For the sake of hygiene, there is no direct contact between the optical sensor unit (6) and the measurement object, and the optical sensor unit (6) operates on the basis of a measurement of light propagation time. Said optical sensor unit (6) contains a PMD sensor, which determines the filling level in the loading pipe (2) by means of a light beam in the IR range and the reflection thereof at the measurement object on the basis of the propagation time of the light beam and forwards the respective measurement results to a data processing system.
