A supplemental cooling system for an air cooled engine, the air cooled engine including an air inlet for the intake of cooling air, the engine being connected to a pump, the pump having a fluid outlet through which pumped fluid is operable to flow, the cooling system including a pump interface in fluid communication with the fluid outlet, the pump interface including a fluid opening for redirecting a portion of the fluid flowing out of the fluid outlet; and a conduit operable to transmit the redirected portion of fluid therethrough, the conduit having first and second ends, the first end in fluid communication with the fluid opening and the second end in fluid communication with the air inlet; wherein the redirected portion of fluid is sufficient to increase the cooling capacity of the cooling air.

An attachment mechanism for attaching a first body to a second body is provided which includes an internal ring attached to the first body, a hub attached to the second body, a locking ring disposed around the hub, and a retention mechanism for retaining the engagement between the internal ring and the locking ring. The hub includes a second annular mating surface for engaging the first annular mating surface when the first and second bodies are attached, and a first engagement means provided circumferentially around the hub. The locking ring includes a second engagement means provided circumferentially around the locking ring and adapted to engage the first engagement means during attachment of the first and second bodies, and an outer surface. The engagement of the first and second engagement means prevents rotation of the locking ring with respect to the hub. The retention mechanism includes a radially extending flange extending from the outer surface of one of the internal ring and the locking ring, and a locking arm extending from the outer surface of the other of the internal ring and the locking arm and operable to receive the radially extending flange. The radially extending flange and the locking arm are correspondingly shaped and sized such that their engagement enables a drawing together of the first and second mating surfaces in response to a rotation of the locking ring with respect to the internal ring.

A system for automatically controlling a pumping unit used in fire suppression comprises a pumping unit, a water flow sensor and a pump controller. The pumping unit has a pump with a suction inlet configured to receive water from an upstream pumping unit and an engine to run the pump. The water flow sensor senses water flow into the suction inlet of the pumping unit. The pump controller receives a water flow sensor signal from the water flow sensor and controls an on/off state of the engine based on the water flow sensor signal.
