The shape of the non-linear metal oxide rod-shaped resistor is a cylinder, an elliptical column or a polygonal prism, and has a large aspect ratio. The main steps of the preparation method comprise: S100, forming a rod-shaped resistor blank by isostatic pressing and/or dry pressing along the radial direction of the blank; S200, sintering the rod-shaped resistor blank to obtain a semi-finished rod-shaped resistor; and S300, spraying aluminum electrodes on both ends of the semi-finished rod-shaped resistor to obtain a non-linear metal oxide rod-shaped resistor. The preparation method can be used for fabricating a non-linear metal oxide resistor having a large aspect ratio. In comparison with existing round or toroidal resistor sheets, the workload of molding, grinding, aluminum spraying and the like is reduced, the utilization rate of raw materials is enhanced, and raw materials are saved; meanwhile, lightning arrester structures and assembly work are simplified, production efficiency of lightning arresters is improved.

Disclosed in the present invention is a lightning arrester, comprising a resistor and an insulating sleeve sleeved outside the resistor. The resistor is made of a zinc oxide mixture. The zinc oxide mixture has characteristics such as excellent nonlinear coefficient, wide pressure-sensitive voltage range, and high mechanical strength. Compared with resistors composed of a plurality of laminated resistor pieces in series in the prior art, the applicant inventively presents configuring the resistor made of a zinc oxide mixture to be a long rod shape, such that the connection interface is reduced, thereby significantly improving the electrical performance of the lightning arrester. In addition, the zinc oxide mixture has excellent mechanical properties, the long rod-shaped zinc oxide ceramic resistor can be directly connected to a wire or an external support, without relying on any insulating support, such that the use of the insulating support is canceled, thereby reducing the structure size of the lightning arrester, and increasing production efficiency of the lightning arrester. Also disclosed in the present invention are a processing method for the lightning arrester.
