Disclosed is an automated agricultural seed discharge system and method with adjustable gate control for seed metering. The method includes a step of receiving a stream of agricultural seed into a metering assembly. The method then includes a step of determining an inflow rate of the stream of agricultural seed based on a measurement of the agricultural seed within the metering assembly. Further, the method includes a step of commanding an adjustable gate into a command position to discharge the agricultural seed from the metering assembly at an outflow rate that matches the inflow rate.
A seed metering and discharge system that generates and discharges a continuous stream of seed for downstream processing. A variable position gate is disposed at an output end of a bottom hopper of the system. During a measurement period, a commanded position of the variable position gate is adjusted in proportion to mass measurement signals received from load cells mounted to the bottom hopper. A top hopper refills the bottom hopper during a refill period when the variable position gate is commanded into a fixed position. The system regulates the continuous stream of seed, measured in real-time, so that the actual seed flow rate at the output end closely matches a target seed flow rate. The system operates iteratively between the measurement and refill periods during continuous discharge cycles.

A liquid treating conveyor system that can apply a metered liquid treatment to a metered stream of seed within the conveyor, with either the rate of the seed or treatment fluid regulated. The conveyor has a curved structure. A belt conformed to the curved structure carries a bed of seed through the conveyor. A liquid dispenser distributes a treatment across the seed bed. A seed flow chamber for handling seed and grain commodity, especially for use with a seed treatment applicator. Seed flow is received through an upper inlet opening configured to receive a flow of seed and discharged through a lower discharge opening. A diverging guide member splits the seed flow. A converging guide member disposed below the diverging guide member reunites the seed flow prior to discharge. The converging member has a downward sloping surface and an air vent, such as a plurality of airflow apertures connected to a plenum. The air vent is configured to communicate with an air supply. A vacuum vent— disposed below the diverging guide member— is configured to communicate with a vacuum source. A fan system recirculates air between the air vent and the vacuum vent. Dehumidifier may condition the air supply to assist with drying.
