Described herein are mounting interfaces for electrical connectors capable of supporting high speed signals and having high density, including up to 70 GHz and higher. Some embodiments provide a connector footprint for a substrate having a pair of signal contact pads on a surface of the substrate and a pair of connecting traces that are interior to the substrate and electrically couple the signal contact pads to a first pair of signal vias (e.g., to a routing layer of the substrate). In some embodiments, a second pair of signal vias may electrically couple the signal contact pads to the connecting traces interior to the substrate. In some embodiments, a portion of a ground layer of the substrate may separate the signal contact pads in the pair. Mounting interfaces described herein enable operation at high frequencies without resonances or other degradation of signal integrity.

The compliant lids described herein ensure uniform compression across the contact field notwithstanding the recent trend to continue to increase the physical dimension of the socket and the density of contacts. Compression uniformity can be enhanced by relocating the pressure exerted on the package away from the corners of the package. This can be accomplished by designing the compliant lids to have openings shaped to interrupt the continuous material that would otherwise extend from the corner of the lid to the region where the lid engages the processor. This void of material is shaped so that continual presence of material exists primarily in the region where the force delivery is preferred. Use of such compliant lids can enhance compression uniformity without having to rely on complex curved plates and stepped insulators.

A fiber optic connector plug includes a housing. The housing includes a central axis, opposing lateral sides and a top side extending between the opposing lateral sides, and an interior channel, extending through the housing, in a direction parallel to the central axis, from a first end portion of the housing to a second end portion of the housing. The housing also includes a latch, coupled to the housing at the top side. The housing further includes a ferrule, extending from the first end portion of the housing. The housing additionally includes a shutter, coupled to the first end portion of the housing such that the shutter is pivotable and translationally slidable, relative to the first end portion of the housing, between a closed position, in which the shutter covers the ferrule, and an open position, in which the shutter does not cover the ferrule.
