The present invention relates to an image processing method for producing a panorama tomogram of the dental arch using the X-ray projection data on the dentomaxillofacial region obtained by the X-ray computer tomography. A medical digital X-ray imager having imaging modes. Support means supports an X-ray source and a digital X-ray sensor having a two-dimensional detecting surface for detecting X-rays opposed to the X-ray source, with an object interposed between them.
