System and method for dynamic device discovery and address assignment
A pool or spa system includes networked pool or spa devices that can be dynamically configured with network addresses by a controller. The controller can transmit a device discovery request on a network and can receive a discovery response from pool or spa devices that require a network address. The system determines and assigns the network addresses for the pool or spa devices based on unique device identifiers associated with the responding pool or spa devices. The network addresses assigned to the pool or spa device are transmitted to the pool or spa device to be used by the pool or spa devices to communicate with the controller over the network. The system can be used to discover and assign addresses to various types of pool or spa devices, such as pumps, underwater lights, chlorinators, water feature controllers, remote controllers, and/or other types of devices.

Modulating Pool or Spa Heater Systems and Associated Methods
A modulating heater system for a pool or spa includes a pool/spa heater capable of variably modulating energy output thereof and a controller communicatively coupled to the heater. The controller determines a current mode of operation for the heater, and establishes temperature overshoot and target temperature setpoints for pool/spa water for the current mode of operation. The controller determines a current temperature of the water, an optimized modulation rate for the heater for the current mode of operation, and a maximum modulation rate for the heater for the current mode of operation. The controller controls the heater to operate at one of the optimized and maximum modulation rates based on the temperature overshoot setpoint for the current mode of operation, the target water temperature setpoint for the current mode of operation, and the current water temperature. A corresponding method for controlling a pool/spa modulating heater is also provided.

A pool or spa system includes networked pool or spa devices that can be dynamically configured with network address by a controller.

A modulating heater system for a pool or spa includes a pool or spa heater capable of variably modulating energy output thereof and a controller communicatively coupled thereto. The controller determines a predicted load based on a previous load, ambient and water temperatures, and estimated pool/spa size, and determines an overshoot setpoint for an operational mode. The controller establishes a target temperature setpoint for the mode and receives a current water temperature. The controller determines whether the overshoot setpoint plus target temperature setpoint is greater than the current water temperature, and determines an error based thereon. The controller determines if the error is less than or greater than a target for the mode, and, based on this determination, determines a heater modulation rate for the mode taking into account the mode, maximum heater output, and available fuel supply. The controller controls the heater to operate at the determined modulation rate.

Systems and methods for controlling operations of a fluid distribution system
A first valve of a manifold for a fluid distribution system may regulate a fluid flow to a first fluid handling device (“FHD”). A second valve of the manifold may communicate with a second FHD, a reservoir, or a recirculation line. A target flow condition for the manifold may be determined by a manifold control system (“MCS”) based on a device setting received for the first FHD. The MCS may determine a fluid distribution system operation for obtaining the target flow condition based on the target flow condition, a flowrate of the fluid flow, and an operational state of a supply device. The operation may include the MCS controlling at least one of the supply device, the first valve, and the second valve to change the flowrate. The MCS may continuously operate at least one manifold valve to maintain the target flow condition once exhibited by the manifold.

Systems and methods for turning over fluid distribution systems
A manifold can determine a turnover scheme including a target turnover schedule of target turnover levels, based on an operation schedule and efficiency setting for a fluid distribution. Each target turnover level can correspond to a volume of fluid to be cycled through the fluid distribution system over a period of time. The manifold can operate respective valves and a supply device based on a target turnover level and determine a current turnover level from a flowrate detected by a flow sensor for at least one of the valves. The manifold can receive a current usage of the fluid distribution system and determine a required turnover level. An override status for the turnover scheme can be based on the efficiency setting and a comparison of the current, target, and the required turnover levels, and the manifold can operate respective valves and the supply device based on the override status.

Improved flow control valve assemblies for fluid systems (e.g., pools or spas) are provided. Advantageous flow control valve assemblies for pool/spa cleaners (e.g., suction pool/spa cleaners) are provided. The present disclosure provides for flow control assemblies for suction pool/spa cleaners, with the cleaners utilized in conjunction with a variable speed pump. A manual valve set-up can be removed from the system, and an advantageous flow control valve assembly can be provided to automatically regulate the flow/suction to the cleaner. The improved flow control valve assembly thereby provides regulated flow to the cleaner, so that if the cleaner remains in the water at low pump speeds, when the pump is later operated at a higher speed the cleaner will function as designed. When there is flow/suction below the desired operating parameters of the cleaner, the pump will operate as desired, and the cleaner is stationary.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR OPTIMIZING CABLE SIZE AND FLEXIBILITY USING INDUCTIVE POWER COUPLINGS
A system and method for optimizing cable size and flexibility for a pool or spa installation is provided. The system includes an inductive power coupling having first and second power couplings. The inductive power coupling transforms a first voltage level provided by the cable to a second voltage level suitable for usage by the pool or spa component and compensates for a voltage loss associated with the cable allowing the cable to have a size and flexibility suitable for installation in a pipe or conduit. The first power coupling is in electrical communication with a power supply via a cable and the second power coupling is in electrical communication with a pool or spa component. The first power coupling inductively transmits received power from the power supply via the cable to the second power coupling. The second power coupling inductively transmits the received power to the pool or spa component.
