An insert for a golf bag having a generally open top and a generally closed bottom includes a golf club supporting structure in the bag. The insert also includes a compartment for each club. A movable tab included in the tubular compartment is deflected by a golf club inserted into the tubular compartment, the deflection is resisted by a cylindrical sheath surrounding the tubular compartment, thereby applying a holding force to the golf club.
