The invention relates to an adapter coupling for releaseably sliding onto the water discharge end (4) of a water outlet (5), particularly a water tap, producing a water-tight connection to an approximately dome-shaped or bell-shaped pipe coupling (2) that can receive the water discharge end (4) in the coupling interior (7) thereof, and having a water outlet (9), having an elastic seal (12) comprising a central opening (13) through which the water discharge end (4) of the water outlet (5) can be fed into the coupling interior (7), wherein said opening can be expanded by the inserted end (4) of the water outlet (5) and can sealingly contact the outer jacket surface of the water discharge end (4), said seal outwardly sealing the coupling interior (7) fluid-tight and having a plurality of radially inwardly opening pockets (64) on the external axial side, and having a support unit (14) forming an expanding funnel disposed axially outward of the seal (12) and supporting said seal (12) and comprising a first axially outward ring plate reinforcement (18) and a second axially inward ring plate reinforcement (22), each having an outer circumferential and continuous ring area (19, 23), from which a plurality of guides (20, 24) extend radially inward and at an angle to the longitudinal axis (3), uniformly distributed about the circumference and displaceably hinged to the ring area (19, 23) at the base (25, 27) thereof. Said adapter coupling is characterized in that a plurality of the guides (20) of the first ring plate reinforcement (18) have a protrusion (50) extending axially inwardly near the radial inner end thereof, and the protrusions (50) protrude through the second ring plate reinforcement and engage in one of the pockets (64) of the seal (12).
