The feeding direction of a material rod from the magazine into the guide means, is transversely to the longitudinal axis of the material rod in the guide means. The guide means includes a support leg and an abutment leg for providing a variably modifiable receiving channel. The support leg provides a support surface of the receiving channel that is inclined in the feeding direction and relative to the horizontal.
