Removable push electrical fitting for electrical metallic tubing or EMT having improved pullout resistance
An electrical fitting having a gripping device with a plurality of gripping tabs forming a helix or spiral. The gripping tabs have a twist creating increased pullout resistance and easier disassembly. The electrical fitting permits electrical metallic tubing or EMT to be quickly attached to and removed from the electrical fitting without disassembling the fitting or cutting the tubing. By providing a grounding conductor assembly affixed to a conduit bushing in a manner which enables the grounding conductor assembly to extend inwardly from the bushing, effectively being positioned coaxially with the inside diameter of the rigid metal conduit, conduit bushing is realized which enables all grounding wires to be quickly and easily mounted to the grounding conductor assembly. The conduit bushing of the present invention includes a generally circular shaped cover or cap member mounted to the terminating end of the conduit and incorporating an enlarged aperture which overlies the elongated passageway formed in the conduit. In this way, the electrical power carrying wires are able to extend outwardly from the rigid metal conduit into the desired outlet box, junction box with the grounding wire being quickly affixed to the receiving zone of the grounding connector assembly.
A clip having a U-shaped body and a cantilevered replacement tab with a threaded hole. The clip replaces damaged threaded tabs on a metal electrical box. The U-shaped body of the clip is slid over the wall of an electrical box after the damaged threaded tab is removed. A cantilevered replacement tab extends from the U-shaped body of the clip having a replacement threaded hole therein for receiving a machine screw. The machine screw holds an electrical outlet within the electrical box. The cantilevered replacement tab creates a moment arm causing an attached tooth to bite into a surface of the electrical box. The clip is thereby securely held within the electrical box and is prevented from sliding off of the box as the electrical outlet is drawn into the box by the machine screw. The present invention provides an improved clip for the replacement of a tab in a damaged electrical box and eliminates the need for replacing the electrical box.
An electrical fitting in the form of a connector or coupler for connecting an electrical metallic tube or EMT to an electrical box or panel or to one another. A unidirectional locking device is disposed in an outermost chamber and an O-ring is disposed in an intermediate chamber. The unidirectional locking device has gripping tangs. The intermediate chamber and gripping tangs are sized so as to prevent the gripping tangs from contacting the O-ring. A contact shoulder is used on one end of the fitting to prevent excessive compression of a sealing washer. Internal longitudinal radially increasing ribs are formed in the fitting body improving continuity and support for the EMT. A tube support may also be provided to prohibit any undesirable bending movement of the EMT connected thereto.
