A road vehicle is equipped with a generic vehicle motion planner and a vehicle type specific vehicle control interface module that makes it possible to adapt vehicle type independent path planning to a specific vehicle type. The generic vehicle motion planner determines a planned vehicle trajectory for the vehicle. The vehicle control interface module provides the generic vehicle motion planner with feasibility constraint information defining one or more feasibility constraints on accelerations of the vehicle along the planned vehicle trajectory. The feasibility constraint information is derived from vehicle configuration parameter values that may be sensed by further sensors. The generic vehicle motion planner determines a planned vehicle trajectory subject to the feasibility constraint on one or more accelerations of the vehicle along the planned vehicle trajectory. The vehicle control interface module converts plan based control information representing a planned acceleration from the generic vehicle motion planner to vehicle specific drive control signals.
A truck comprises a vessel mount structure providing at least one neck mount that is mounted to an axial end of an elongated pressure vessel. The vessel mount structure comprises a support arm that is coupled to the or each neck mount by a coupling arrangement that is deformable in a lateral direction for guiding a movement of the respective neck mount relative to the support arm along a predefined trajectory. An end stop is provided on the chassis and spaced from the elongated pressure vessel. In case of an impact on the elongated pressure vessel, the coupling arrangement guides the elongated pressure vessel along the predefined trajectory towards the end stop, for thereby reducing a peak force on the neck mounts.

Compression ignition engine, commercial vehicle, and method for improving starting behaviour
A compression ignition engine, commercial vehicle comprising such an engine, and a method for improving starting behaviour of such an engine. The engine is operable in a normal mode or a cold start mode. In the normal mode, a fuel injection system is controlled to inject a main fuel injection in a single pulse. In the cold start mode, the main fuel injection is split into a first split main and a second split main. The fuel injection system is controlled to inject the first and second split main in two distinct pulses, wherein the first split main is injected at a delayed timing for initiating a diffusion combustion phase in the pressurized combustion chamber, and wherein the second split main is injected during the diffusion combustion phase into the already combusting air-fuel mix.

According to an aspect of the invention, the outer surface guides travel wind along its shape in a longitudinal direction of a rounded wheel enclosure. The outer surface has an extending portion in a transition area behind an apex of the circumferential surface of the wheel enclosure. The extending portion supports a sharp edge extending transverse to the longitudinal and vertical direction. The extending portion directs airflow away from the circumferential surface of the wheel enclosure along the longitudinal direction and the sharp edge separates airflow from following the extending portion further.

According to the invention, a method is provided of operating a combustion engine comprising more than three cylinders with cylinder valves that are operated in a cycle of fuel intake, pressurizing, firing and exhaust strokes. The method comprises carrying out the cycle for at least two cylinders in a simultaneous operation; and having the simultaneously operated cylinders to exhaust in a manifold that couples to a single turbine.
According to the invention, a method and system for estimating fresh air flow into a turbocharged engine (105) is provided. A controller (109) arranged to determine an actual fresh air mass flow in subsequent time frames by measuring, in an actual time frame, a pressure drop over a compressor (101) and using a first calculated fresh air mass flow as a starting value for deriving a second fresh air mass flow in said time frame from a compressor model using the measured pressure drop and a compressor rotational speed. In a previous time frame, before said actual time frame, a pressure drop is measured over an air treatment device. A pressure drop is estimated over the air treatment device (103,104,106,108) using the second fresh air mass flow and an estimated flow resistance of the air treatment device. Subsequently, the second fresh air mass flow is corrected by comparing the estimated pressure drop with the measured pressure drop over the air treatment device and using the corrected second fresh air mass flow as an actual fresh air mass flow in said time frame.

A method, device and system for detecting and counteracting a runaway condition in a diesel engine system. The diesel engine system includes an inlet for supplying combustion air to a diesel engine, and an exhaust for relieving the diesel engine from exhaust gas. The diesel engine system further includes an exhaust gas recirculation system for selectively allowing exhaust gas from the exhaust to enter the inlet. A first gas flow path actuator is included in the exhaust gas recirculation system, and a second gas flow path actuator is included in the exhaust. The method, as performed by the system, comprises detection of an actual or potential runaway condition, and in response thereto deprives the diesel engine of oxygen. Depriving of oxygen is performed by opening the first gas flow path actuator and closing the second gas flow path actuator to cause stalling of the diesel engine. The depriving is accomplished by maximizing recirculation of exhaust gasses to the engine and increasing pressure drop over the exhaust for a first predetermined period of time.
