The systems and methods preferably comprise a climate control system and infrared sensors in a poultry house having a first climate and housing poultry having one or more measurable parameters such a temperature. The infrared sensors detect infrared light information emitted by a head and/or vent of poultry in the house. The climate control system processes the information to calculate an internal temperature of poultry and activates one or more climate conditioning devices in the house to change the first climate to a second climate determined by the detected information and/or calculated internal temperatures of the poultry. The systems and methods may be deployed in houses comprising thousands of poultry and one or more climate zones. The systems and methods may make one or more climate changes based on one or more different parameters.
The invention is a system and method for controlled distribution of livestock feed to a plurality feeders along a feed line in a livestock enclosure. In a preferred embodiment, the feed is conveyed in predetermined quantities from a receptacle through the feed line to the feeders connected to the feed line. The feeders preferably comprise a portion configured to receive a measured quantity of feed from an orifice in the feed line and allow the flow of feed through the feeder, a pan, and a damper member housed by the feeder and configured to controllably block the flow of feed through the feeder into the pan. The respective damper members of the feeders are preferably controlled by an actuation mechanism that, when actuated, simultaneously moves the damper members from the feed flow blocking position in the feeders to an open position, thereby allowing feed to flow into all respective pans of the plurality of feeders along the feed line simultaneously.
A treatment device or method for preparing a poultry carcass, as provided herein, may serve to remove a portion of the carcass's keel bone on a conveyor line. The treatment device may include a blade carriage and bone blade. The blade carriage may be disposed at a preharvest station on a conveyor path of the conveyor line. The bone blade may be mechanically linked to the blade carriage at the preharvest station to remove a tip of the keel bone. The bone blade may be aligned with the keel bone between a pair of fillets of the carcass within the preharvest station. The bone blade may also be spaced apart from a sternum of the carcass.

A method for hanging poultry in an overhead conveyor provided with carriers and can include an overhead-conveyor-section of the overhead conveyor and a first conveyor for conveying the poultry towards a section thereof being below the overhead-conveyor-section. The poultry can be conveyed by the first conveyor towards the section. An operator picks the poultry or parts thereof and hangs the poultry in the carriers being conveyed along the overhead-conveyor-section. The operator may be carried via a second conveyor beside the section of the first conveyor and in the direction of the carriers in the overhead-conveyor-section while the operator is picking and hanging the poultry.
