An individual building module for use in forming a room or similar of a building structure, typically of dwelling units in high-rise building structures, includes a structural framework of columns and beams, and infill panels made from light weight building material located between the columns and beams for forming the walls, floor and ceiling of the room. The lightweight building material is preferably autoclaved aerated concrete. Owing to the lighter weight of the building module, it can be more readily hoisted into position for installation in the building structure which is an advantage since specialised heavy duty lifting apparatus are not required. Individual building modules are interconnected to one another using a variety of different connectors. One preferred connector is a spigot having a locking arrangement for interlocking columns of adjacent modules to one another when in side-by-side and/or vertically stacked relationship to one another. The advantage of the connectors includes reducing lateral and/or vertical relative movement of the modules.
Disclosed is a building formwork system (100) including a building formwork component (102), building formwork connector (204) and building formwork cap (306). In one arrangement, the building formwork system (100) can comprise a number of inter-connected building formwork components (e.g. 102a, 102b, 102c) that define a column, a building formwork connector (204) connecting two of the building formwork components (e.g. 102a, 102b) in the column, and two building formwork caps (306a, 306b) that are connected at two opposite sides of the column.
A reinforced building product and a method of manufacturing such a reinforced building product is described in which the building product comprises a generally solid rectilinear body of a lightweight cementitious material in the form of a panel of a regular parallelepiped shape having a generally curvilinear reinforcement embedded wholly within the rectilinear body in which part of the curved reinforcement is closer to one face of the building product and another part of the curved reinforcement is closer to another part of the building product thereby providing enhanced strength to the panel. A method of forming the curved reinforcement mesh is also described in which a generally planar mesh is deformed into a generally curved shape for being embedded within the rectilinear body during moulding of the panel. The curvilinear reinforcement imparts greater strength and rigidity to the building product to enable the panel to resist damage due to flexing or bending during manufacturing, handling and installation of the panel which is the advantage of such an arrangement.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR FACILITATING CONTROL OF A BUILDING ENVIRONMENT
The invention relates to a method and apparatus for facilitating control of a building environment, in particular a domestic dwelling. A control apparatus provides an interface actuatable by a user to monitor and control the environment within a domestic dwelling. The interface presents a representation of the dwelling divided into a number of separate zones. These zones include a roof space, a living space and an underfloor space. Environmental conditions are monitored for the zones and displayed within each of the zones. The zones can be actuated via the interface and signals can be generated for controlling the operation of devices to affect environmental conditions within the zones. The building represented in the display may be displayed with recognisable artifacts, such as solar panels, beds, grass, trees, furniture.

A roof-mounted ventilator comprising a plurality of blades is disclosed. Each blade comprises front and back blade faces and leading and trailing edges. When the ventilator is viewed in side profile, the blades are positioned and configured such that a line of sight into the interior of the ventilator is substantially restricted or obstructed. Restricting or obstructing the line of sight into the ventilator can reduce or prevent various particles, such as water droplets, debris, dust and light, from entering the ventilator interior. For example, rain is thereby forced to strike a face of the blades, thus preventing direct access into the ventilator interior. The blade itself may include additional features, such as a lip that extends along the length of the leading edge, to further prevent particles from entering the ventilator interior, or to redirect the particles away from the ventilator interior in a controlled manner.

A connector in the form of a modified top hat section for securely attaching a building panel to a support member is provided with a guide to assist in accurately locating the fasteners used to attach the connector to the support member with respect to the support member and to guide movement of the fastener as the fastener is rotatingly driven through the connector into the support member to maintain the correct orientation of the fastener to securely attach the connector to the support member. The guide can have a multitude of different forms such as holes, perforations, slots, notches, grooves, lines of weakness and be continuous or in spaced apart relationship to each other. The advantage of the guide is to reduce installation time and effort as well as allowing the top hat section to be securely attached to the support by the fastener having clearance between the strengtheners of the connector and the tapering side wall.

A rotor ventilator comprising a ventilator stator for mounting to a structure and a ventilator rotor for mounting and rotation with respect to the ventilator stator is disclosed. The ventilator further comprises a cover for positioning over the ventilator rotor and mounting to the ventilator stator, The cover comprises a central portion surrounded by an outer substantially concave portion. The outer concave portion of the cover may protect the ventilator from environmental conditions/elements, such as by redirecting particles, water droplets, debris and dust, etc away from the interior of the ventilator. The outer concave portion may act as a trough, from which the particles can then be directed off the cover. The trough may also act to prevent the particles from escaping over the sides of the cover, and into the ventilator.
An airflow valve for diverting air flow from different parts of an enclosed space, such as a building, is disclosed. The airflow valve may be used as part of a building ventilation system. The valve comprises an outlet for exhausting air from the enclosed space. The valve also comprises a housing, in which first and second inlets for air flow communication with first and second spaces of the enclosed space are located. For example, a living space and a roof space of a building may be the first and second spaces. One or more elements can selectively place the first and/or second inlets into air flow communication with the outlet. Thus, the airflow valve can be used to e,g, selectively exhaust air from different parts of the enclosed space (e.g. from roof and/or living spaces).
A system for optimising one or more environmental parameters of an enclosed space comprising first and second relatively enclosed regions, such as a living space and a roof space within a building, is disclosed. The system comprises an internal sensor, in the first region, and an external sensor, external to the enclosed space, for measuring respective environmental parameters. The system also comprises a controller and a diverter valve. The controller is configured to specify the first region's ideal internal environmental parameter, and compare this specified parameter with the measured first region's internal parameter and the measured external parameter to determine whether the diverter valve directs air from the first or second enclosed region to exhaust through the ventilator.

The present invention provides a system of jointing and finishing plasterboard sheets. The system comprises adjacently abutted first and second plasterboard sheets and a connective material. The connective material is applied to a region at or near the side edge portions of the first and second plasterboard sheets and which securely joins the side edge portion of the first plasterboard sheet to the side edge portion of the second plasterboard sheet. There is also provided a joint filling compound and a finishing compound, which are optionally also applied to the region of the first and second plasterboard sheets.
A stud system for use in a formwork. The stud system has two spaced apart outer wall sheets and comprises at least one elongate stud member and one or more elongate reinforcing members. The stud member has a longitudinally extending web portion and first and a second longitudinally extending side wall portions. The longitudinally extending web portion has two opposite side edges and each of the side wall portions have a first side edge and an opposite second side edge. Each side wall portion has a first and a second longitudinally extending flange portion. Each flange portion has a first side edge and an opposite second side edge. Each of the reinforcing members have opposite ends and the stud system is adapted for the opposite ends to be secured in relation to the second edges of the flange portions to reinforce the stud member.
The present invention comprises in combination, a first and second sheet member, each member having a front and rear major surface joined by a notched edge portion. The sheet members are joined in end to end relationship by interconnecting the notched edge portion of the first sheet member to the notched edge portion of the second sheet member. This is achieved by fixing an elongate connector, which has a substantially constant cross-section therebetween, such that a recess is formed in the vicinity of the interconnected notched edge portions. This recess is adjacent the respective front major surfaces of the sheet members and is filled with a filler material.
