Composite recoil-absorbing stocks for firearms are disclosed. One stock has a rigid body that has an internal cavity. A compressible insert may be positioned in the rigid body with an elongated front end that is narrower than a broadened rear end. The front end is positioned in a narrowed front end of the internal cavity, and the rear end is positioned in a wider rear end of the cavity. When the firearm recoils, the compressible insert can be positioned between the shooter and the rest of the firearm and can therefore dampen and absorb recoil forces. The positioning and size of the rigid body and compressible insert help prevent bending and buckling of the compressible insert, thereby limiting the effect that the compression of the insert has on aiming and accuracy of the shot. Other embodiments and related methods are also disclosed.
A firearm choke tube includes a cylindrical body, a choke interrupted thread section, and a locking tab. The choke interrupted thread section is positioned on an outer surface of the cylindrical body and configured to threadably engage an interrupted thread section of a barrel of a firearm to limit longitudinal movement of the cylindrical body relative to the barrel. The locking tab protrudes from the outer surface of the cylindrical body and is configured to interface with a detent formed in the barrel to limit rotational movement of the cylindrical body relative to the barrel.

A magazine for a firearm may include a cavity that is shaped to prevent the tip of the bullets in the cartridges from contacting the magazine when the firearm recoils. The magazine may also be configured so that the cartridges in the magazine exit the cavity at least approximately in the center of the magazine. The magazine may be configured to include a biasing mechanism that pushes the cartridges upward in the cavity. The biasing mechanism may be configured to allow the magazine to be compact, simple, and reliable.

Shotgun having an improved shotshell feeding mechanism
A shotgun includes an action that is capable of rapidly chambering a shotshell after the shotgun has run out of shotshells and is capable of allowing shotshells to be removed from the magazine without cycling the shotshells through the action.
A take-down rifle is described that can be separated into two halves to allow the rifle to be transported, cleaned, etc. easier. The takedown rifle includes a takedown mechanism that is used to couple the two halves of the rifle together. The takedown mechanism may move between a first position where the takedown mechanism holds the two halves together and a second position where the two halves are released. In one embodiment, the takedown mechanism may include a securing member that is selectively moved into and out of a recess in the barrel to hold and release the two halves. The securing member may be moved into and out of the recess with a lever, threaded fastener, or the like.
A magazine plug is configured to be positioned in a magazine of a shotgun to reduce the shotshell capacity of the shotgun. In one embodiment, the magazine plug has an elongated cross-sectional shape. The magazine plug is configured to rotate between a first orientation where the magazine plug can move longitudinally into and out of the magazine and a second orientation where the magazine plug is prevented from moving longitudinally out of the magazine.
A shotgun includes an action that locks the firing pin in a retracted position when the action is not closed. In one embodiment, the firing pin is held in a retracted position without the use of a spring, which may fail over time. In another embodiment, the action includes a bolt slide that is configured to hold the firing pin in the retracted position when the action is open.
