A brake disc ring, comprising a carrier body, a bonding layer distributed substantially uniformly over at least a part of a surface region of the carrier body, and a friction layer. The carrier body comprises an interface portion with a higher density that that of a core portion of the carrier body.
A connecting means for a brake disc assembly comprising a clamp (100') having a central portion (101) and outer portion (110, 120) respectively arranged at opposite ends of the central portion. The first and second outer portions extend transversely to the central contact surface (104) and respectively provide a first and a second contact surface (118, 128) which, in an assembled state with a bell of a brake disc assembly, are configured to contact the bell of the brake disc assembly in order to provide for relative motion between the connecting means and the bell substantially only in a radial direction. The first and second contact surfaces (118, 128) are substantially planar and substantially parallel with respect to the central contact surface (104) of the central portion (101). A process of manufacturing a brake disc assembly is disclosed, comprising a relaxation treatment of the brake disc ring or assembly to reduce internal stresses in the brake disc ring. The relaxation treatment includes a thermal treatment, a vibration treatment, and/or a torque treatment. The thermal treatment comprises increasing the temperature of the brake disc ring from an initial temperature to a peak temperature; maintaining the temperature of the brake disc ring at the peak temperature for a peak period; and decreasing the temperature of the brake disc ring to the initial temperature. The vibration treatment comprises establishing mechanical contact between an actuator and the brake disc assembly and actuating the brake disc ring or the brake disc assembly for a specific period at a specific frequency using a specific load. The torque treatment comprises applying a specific torque to the brake disc assembly for a specific period. Further, a brake disc ring is disclosed comprising a carbon fibre-reinforced brake disc ring having an axial run-out of less than 10 μm, preferably 5 μm, more preferably 3 μm, after thermal treatment of the brake disc ring.
Internally vented brake disk rotors have a form of a cylindrical slab with an annular geometry and have an axis of circular symmetry for its outer circumference and its inner circumference and a center hole which is symmetric with regard to the axis. The brake disk contains at least two parallel ring disks which are connected with each other by a repeating series of ribs, the configuration of the brake disk rotor is symmetric with regard to different sense of rotation of the brake disk, i.e. symmetric to at least one plane spanned by the axis of rotation of the brake disk and one radius of the cylindrical brake disk.
A cylindrical ring-shaped friction disc contains a support body, at least one friction layer, and in each case an intermediate layer arranged between the support body and the friction layer.
