In one aspect, a cosmetic composition includes a sunless tanning agent and a sunscreen agent. A photostabilizer is added to stabilize the sunscreen agent from the destabilizing effect of the sunless tanning agent. In this manner, UV protection is provided to the user when the cosmetic composition is applied to skin. In another aspect, a water-based sunless tanning/sunscreen composition includes a sunless tanning agent, a sunscreen agent, and a photostabilizer. The sunless tanning agent is DHA, and the sunscreen is avobenzone. Because the avobenzone degrades when exposed to UV radiation when used with DHA, the photostabilizer is added to enable the avobenzone to retain most of its original ability to absorb the UV radiation. The photostabilizer is a low molecular weight copolymer of adipic acid and neopentyl glycol.
A tampon pledget has an absorbent mass of material and a withdrawal string located at one end thereof. During use, the tampon pledget expands to take on a geometric configuration that approximates the shape of the vagina into which the tampon pledget is inserted. An anthroprometrically expandable tampon pledget has an absorbent mass of material that is defined by a first end having a first density, a second end having a second density, and a portion intermediate the first and second ends. The material expands at different rates upon being contacted by body fluids, thereby allowing the tampon pledget to conform to the shape of a vagina. A method of making an expandable tampon pledget includes the steps of providing an absorbent material, attaching a string thereto, and compressing the material into a cylindrical shape such that a density gradient is realized over a length of the compressed material.
A polymer latex composition has an acrylonitrile component, a polychloroprene component, and a natural latex component. When these components are blended together and formed into a film, the film exhibits a resistance to ozone that is greater than a resistance to ozone of materials in which acrylonitrile is not included. Furthermore, the combination of acrylonitrile and chloroprene imparts a synergistic effect to the composition with regard to ozone resistance. The film can be formed into a glove having a resistance to ozone that is improved over the resistance to ozone of gloves not including acrylonitrile. The glove may include an antimicrobial agent.

TAMPON PLEDGET FOR INCREASED BYPASS LEAKAGE PROTECTION
The present invention provides a tampon pledget with one or more of the following properties: increased absorbency rate; high absorbent capacity and fluid retention; rapid expansion potential; and ease of ejection of the pledget from the applicator. Surprisingly, the one or more properties are achieved by using a modified dual cross-pad, folded, compressed tampon pledget design.
A method for the study and evaluation of the performance of medical devices in vivo is disclosed. The medical devices are preferably tampons that are observed and evaluated in the vaginal cavities of women during their menstrual cycles in order to obtain data relative to tampon performance for the improvement of tampon technology. The method preferably uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), although other types of imaging techniques may be used. The present invention also resides in a method of MRI analysis in which a three-dimensional surface model image of a medical device such as a tampon or similar feminine hygiene product in vivo is created from two or more two-dimensional cross section images and combined with a second surface model image to produce a single image.
In a cassette (20) for dispensing flexible tubing (34) a cassette body (22) includes a central tubular portion (24) defining an aperture (26) extending therethrough. An outer wall (28) surrounds the central tubular portion and a cassette bottom (30) extends between and connects the outer wall and the central tubular portion. The outer wall, the cassette bottom and the central tubular portion cooperate to define an interior area (32) that surrounds the central tubular portion. A length of flexible tubing (34) is positioned in the interior area. The cassette bottom includes first registration features (42) and a cover (36) is coupled to the body and at least partially overlies the interior area, the cover defining second registration features (44) matingly engageable with the first registration features so that cassettes can be stacked one-on-top-of-the-other with the cooperation of the first and second registration features (42, 44) preventing successively stacked cassettes from shifting relative to one another.
The present invention provides a tampon applicator assembly having an applicator barrel with an insertion tip with a maximum of three petals. Additionally, the tampon applicator assembly can be provided with a tapered insertion tip. A shaped pledget can be housed in the applicator barrel, which provides support to the petals.
A vent valve, and a vent valve assembly, for a liquid dispensing container, employ a vent disc having small open vent holes in cooperation with an overlying thin flexible flap that covers and closes the vent holes to limit liquid pressure on the holes when the container is upright, yet require little suction pressure to move the flap to draw liquid or vent through the holes. The vent valve can be used in a bottom cap that is attachable to the bottom open end of the container. The vent valve assembly includes such a bottom cap, a sealing member for sealing the bottom cap to the container, and a vent valve. The vent valve and/or bottom cap have an elevated vent disc and a top portion having the thin flexible flap.
