METHOD FOR MANAGEMENT OF DEVICE UPDATE TRANSMISSION
A field device is configured to determine whether a device update is to be transmitted to a central server. The field device determines a period of time between an update time and a previous update time and a set of device conditions associated with a user utilization of the field device. The field device utilizes at least one of the period of time and the set of device conditions to determine an update schedule for the field device. The update schedule is determined by the field device utilizing a set of internal criteria that the period of time and the set of device conditions are evaluated against. The field device generates a device update from the set of device conditions and the update schedule and transmits the device update to a central server. The field device, via the device update causes the central server to utilize the update schedule.

Systems involving distributed control functions are described herein. Each member or device within the system has responsibility for controlling part of the system's behavior, and includes logic to determine what action, if any, will follow as a response to determining information or receiving information from other members or devices within the system. A change of status of one member of a system may provide a basis for action by another member of the system. Status may be the result of sensing a condition of the environment, sensing the condition of a component, receiving the output of a conventional sensor, and/or sensing the condition of a link between components. In some embodiments, action taken by a member of the system may include collecting data during law enforcement activities.

A method of automatic activation of a responder camera to begin capturing a video can be performed by a computing device. The computing device receives an indication of a location or an event. The computing device determines a geographic area associated with the location or event. The computing device receives a dispatch acknowledgement from a responder, where the dispatch acknowledgement indicates that the responder is at the geographic area or that the responder is en route to the geographic area. The computing device automatically sends a camera activation signal to a responder camera associated with the responder in response to receiving the dispatch acknowledgement from the responder. The responder camera is configured to begin capturing a video in response to receiving the camera activation signal.

A primary subsystem enables revisions to be made at the location of the incident prior to leaving the location. Systems for collecting and managing information about incidents include primary and secondary subsystems. A category is a descriptor or label that identifies a common aspect among members assigned to the category. Categories may determine how information is stored, communicated, and/or accessed on primary and/or secondary subsystems.

Bumper for an electrode of a conducted electrical weapon
A bumper for preventing a forward portion of an electrode from penetrating a target comprises a rearward portion and an expandable portion. The rearward portion is configured to couple the bumper to a forward portion of an electrode. The expandable portion may comprise a plurality of members. The expandable portion is configured to transition from a collapsed state to an expanded state after being launched toward a target. The expanded state comprises a greater contact area than the contact area of the collapsed state. The greater contact area of the expanded state is configured to distribute a force of impact on the target to prevent penetration into the target. The transition from the collapsed state to the expanded state may be configured to increase a duration of impact with the target, thereby reducing a force of impact on the target to prevent penetration into the target.
A detector for detecting the removal and/or insertion of a firearm out of and/or into a holster. The detector may transmit a message each time the firearm is removed from the holster. A recording system may receive the message and determine whether or not it will begin recording the data it captures. A detector may detect the change in a magnitude of an inductance and/or an impedance of a circuit to detect insertion and removal of the firearm into and out of the holster. A placement mode may be invoked to determine an optimal mounting location of the detector relative to the holster. The optimal mounting location may be a location of maximum sensitivity of the detector with respect to the weapon and/or a location wherein the measurements obtained via the detector exceed a threshold. The detector may provide indicia corresponding with the optimal mounting location.
