The application of nanotechnology in well cementing operations enhances the mechanical properties of the cement. As a result, better zonal isolation and protection of the environment is achieved. Well cementing operations have previously used pre-fabricated nanoparticles in cement slurries. Prefabricated particles, however, have been found to exhibit improper dispersion within a resulting cement sheath, negatively impacting its mechanical properties. The present disclosure is directed to the in situ synthesis the nanoparticles within a cement slurry as it hydrates to form a cured/hardened cement matrix. In situ nanoparticle preparation is a platform technology that enables the preparation of wide variety of nanoparticles, while controlling their size, morphology and result in high dispersion. In addition to mitigating the dispersion problem observed with prefabricated nanoparticles, the in situ approach for nanoparticle synthesis described herein employs inexpensive precursors, reducing the cost of the nanoparticles and an overall well cementing operation significantly.

REAL-TIME MONITORING OF WELLBORE CLEANOUT USING DISTRIBUTED ACOUSTIC SENSING
Described is a method of cleaning a wellbore using a fibre-optic distributed acoustic sensor (DAS) and temporary tubing deployed downhole. In real time, the DAS measures characteristics of the fluid along the entire length of the sensor/wellbore as the fluid is being pumped out of the wellbore, and operators can optionally adjust the wellbore cleanout operation in response to the characteristics determined from the DAS measurements.
A treatment to temporarily block highly permeable areas in a wellbore having a temperature of less than 160°F. A diverting agent, a catalyzer, and a viscosifier are mixed together and pumped in the wellbore where the treatment flows in the most highly permeable areas. The diverting agent then begins to block those areas as the well is treated finally causing the fluid to divert to other now more highly permeable areas of the wellbore. After less than 48 the diverting agent degrades sufficiently to restore the permeablility of the wellbore.

LONG TERM DUAL BIOCIDE AND HYDROGEN SULFIDE REMEDIATION
In wellbore construction it has become environmentally and economically practical to treat flow back and produced water at the well site. Typically the flow back and produced water is initially contained in an open air pond. The water is then run to a treatment system to remove particulates and then deposited in a second clean pond. The water in the second clean pond may be allowed to sit in the pond for weeks before it is pumped out to be taken and disposed of or most likely to be used as a water source in the construction of a different well. Unfortunately even though the water may have initially been treated with the biocide due to the open environment to water is usually re-contaminated with both nutrients and both aerobic and anaerobic bacteria. The anaerobic bacteria usually include sulfur reducing bacteria which in turn produces hydrogen sulfide dissolved in the water. It has been found that an effective way to treat the clean pond to prevent contamination of the clean pond by sulfur reducing bacteria and its consequent hydrogen sulfide is to initially treat the second pond with a short-term but quick kill biocide as well as with the hydrogen sulfide scavenger that may then act as a long term biocide.
Surfaces of well servicing equipment are treated with both a biofilm remover, which can be a mechanical or chemical, and a biocide composition. The biocide composition is designed to be effective to prevent regrowth of bacteria over a period of time in which the equipment is expected to be out of service. Further, the biocide composition is designed to be compatible with the water source which is available on site for preparation of the biocide composition. If compatible, the biofilm remover and the biocide composition can be mixed together as a single treatment. The biocide is maintained within the equipment or displaced therefrom, such as with nitrogen and residual biocide composition is effective therein to prevent regrowth. Nitrogen can be maintained within the equipment until put back into service.

Recently it is been found that by adding a weak base, the overall viscosity of the guar was enhanced. Tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a corrosion resistant metallic alloy. However, pumping during the installation of tubing encapsulated cable is required to overcome the capstan effect of the tubing encapsulate cable inside the coil tubing as the tubing encapsulated cable travels through the coiled up wraps of coil tubing. In an embodiment of the invention the tubing encapsulated cable consists of one or more electrical conductors and possibly one or more fiber optic cables sheathed in a fiber reinforced composite sheath. Because there is little drag between the fiber encapsulated cable and the coil tubing, conventional pumping operations used to install braided wireline into coil tubing may not be required when installing fiber encapsulated cable into coil tubing. Additionally, the smooth outside surface and relatively small diameter of the fiber encapsulated cable are desirable attributes for well intervention work because the smooth surface is more resistant to chemical attack than braided wire while the smooth surface and relatively small diameter provide little viscous drag while fluids are pumped through the coil tubing in the course of intervention operations.
Tubing encapsulated cable is generally difficult to place in the interior of coil tubing while the coil tubing is wound onto a reel on the surface. In various embodiments of the present invention tubing encapsulated cable is placed in the interior of coil tubing by first installing a semi-rigid cable into the coil tubing semi- rigid cable is initially installed by pumping the cable into the coil tubing. The leading end of the cable is then attached to a winch while the trailing end of the cable is attached to tubing encapsulated cable. The winch applies tension to the cable in turn pulling on the tubing encapsulated cable to move the tubing encapsulated cable into the coil tubing. Additionally fluid is pumped through the tubing encapsulated cable in the direction that the tubing encapsulated cable is being installed to assist in overcoming the capstan effect that acts on both the cable and the tubing encapsulated cable.
