A quick connector coupling comprising a connector body having a retainer housing and a separate stem. The retainer housing defines a through bore extending axially rearward from a male member reception end. The retainer housing includes a generally cylindrical spacer portion. The stem defines a through bore extending axially rearward from a housing reception end. The stem includes a spacer housing portion overlying the spacer portion of the retainer housing. A two piece insertion verifier assembly has a clip and a pull member connected together. The clip is attached to the connector body. The clip further includes a flexible cross member joining the two legs. The cross member includes an asymmetric tab, offset from its center toward one of the legs. The body has a protrusion on an outer surface. The tab and the protrusion insure proper orientation of the clip relative to the connector body and tube. With the upset secured by the retainer, it contacts the two legs of the clip to deform the legs apart to permit the clip to disengage from the connector body. However, the pull member and clip separate if a pulling force is exerted on the pull member with the male member not fully inserted into the connector body. The clip remains on the connector body.

Jet pump assembly of a fuel system for a combustion engine
A fuel system has a jet pump assembly that fills a fuel reservoir for providing a reliable source of fuel to an electric motor fuel pump located in a fuel tank for a combustion engine. The electric fuel pump preferably delivers fuel at a controlled pressure to a series of fuel injectors of the engine. A small portion of the fuel exiting the electric fuel pump is diverted to the jet pump assembly that aspirates fuel from the fuel tank and into the reservoir. A biased normally closed pressure responsive valve prevents fuel flow to the jet pump when the electric fuel pump is running under impaired conditions, thus providing all the fuel to the combustion engine typically during cold engine start conditions.
A grounding arrangement for an in-tank fuel system includes a fuel level sensor assembly of a fuel module comprising a conductive card body and a resister card supported on the conductive card body. The resister card includes a conductive trace in conductive contact with the conductive card body. The card body is conductively connected to a conductive fuel module component. The trace is adapted to be connected to the ground plane of a vehicle. Other traces on the resister card are in the electrical circuit of the fuel level sensor assembly. The fuel module further includes a conductive blade having a knife edge and in conductive contact with a conductive fuel module component. The knife edge cuts through the insulation of an insulated conductor to allow the knife edge to be in contact with the conductive element of the conductor.

A fuel vapor recovery system of a vehicle has a fill pipe inlet assembly located at a distal end of a fuel tank fill pipe. The inlet assembly has a cylindrical wall defining an elongated cavity divided axially into upstream and downstream regions by a restrictor plate which carries a hole for close receipt of a fuel supply nozzle of a remote fuel pump. During refueling of the tank, fuel vapor flows from the tank via a recirculation tube and into the inlet cavity of the fill pipe to become entrained into the flowing liquid fuel as oppose to being released to atmosphere. The fuel vapor enters the upstream region at an aperture carried by the wall disposed immediately upstream from the restrictor plate and downstream from a hood. The hood limits vapor release to atmosphere and draws the vapor downstream through a port carried by the restrictor plate for entrainment of vapor into the liquid fuel in the downstream region. Toward the end of the refueling process, any fuel welling or backing up within the fill pipe is generally limited to the downstream region of the cavity via the restrictor plate and an automatic shutoff feature of the remote fuel pump. Liquid fuel is thus less likely to enter the recirculation tube in the upstream region even if the automatic shut-off feature of the remote refuel pump should fail. Consequently, it is less likely that liquid fuel will flow into the canister of the vapor recovery system even when the automatic shut-off feature of the remote refuel pump has failed.
