The attachment includes a suppressor for inhibiting muzzle flash and a muzzle brake coupled to the suppressor for counteracting muzzle climb. The suppressor includes a distal end that receives a retaining ring to couple the muzzle brake with the suppressor. The distal end includes exterior threads and a tapered interior surface to seal with a beveled exterior surface of the muzzle brake. The exterior threads engage with interior threads of the retaining ring whereby the beveled surface may be brought into contact with the tapered interior surface of the distal end. The retaining ring includes a narrow portion configured to engage a lip on the exterior of the muzzle brake whereby the muzzle brake may be tightly coupled with the distal end of the suppressor.
An apparatus and methods are provided for a gunsight and sighting system for use on firearms. The gunsight and sighting system comprises a mount portion coupled with a hood portion. A projection window with a collimated image overlay is secured to the mount portion by the hood portion. A front sight dot is forward of the projection window, while two rear sight dots are rearward of the mount portion. The sight dots may be illuminated by any of various desirable colors to enhance visibility in various lighting conditions. Light sensors disposed at the front of the mount portion detect ambient light and/or light in a target area and accordingly adjust the illumination of the sight dots. The light sensors may be disposed in asymmetric locations of the mounting portion to overcome interference due to light arriving at angles other than in front of the gunsight and sighting system.

The dual dwell weight comprises a forward weight and an aft weight with a centrally disposed spring. The curvature profile provides an included angle of the central bore that decreases secondary flash events accompanying the expulsion of propellant gases accompanying a fired bullet exiting the suppressor through the central bore. The curvature profile exhibits a cross-sectional area of the central bore that is proportional to a distance along the diverging portion.

Various embodiments are provided to implement an attachment for a firearm that operates as a flash hider, a muzzle brake, and/or to mount, e.g., a sound suppressor, to the firearm. In one example, a firearm attachment includes a base adapted to couple to a muzzle end of a barrel of a firearm. The firearm attachment includes a plurality of longitudinal tines that extend forward from the base. The base includes a plurality of apertures disposed rearward of the tines and that extend from a bore within the base through an outer circumfery of the firearm attachment. The apertures exhibit a first diameter at the bore and a second larger diameter at the outer circumfery. The apertures are adapted to impart thrust to the firearm attachment in response to combustion gases passed from the bore through the apertures to compensate for muzzle rise associated with the firearm.
Various techniques are provided to assemble, manufacture, and operate firearm sound suppressors. In one example, a sound suppressor for a firearm includes a baffle; a spacer abutted to the baffle; and a circumferential laser weld joining the baffle and the spacer. In another example, a sound suppressor for a firearm includes a plurality of baffles; a plurality of spacers; a substantially tubular housing surrounding the baffles and the spacers; wherein the housing and the spacers define an annular volume surrounding the spacers; an aperture in a circumfery of at least one of the spacers; and wherein the aperture is adapted to direct combustion gases in a radial direction from within the spacer into the annular volume to reduce ejection port flash of the firearm. Additional suppressor embodiments and related methods are also provided.
A rail mountable device may be provided that is configured to be secured firmly to a rail, such as a rail on a firearm, and released easily from the rail. In one example, the rail mountable device may include a rail clamp that includes first and second rail-engaging surfaces of corresponding first and second ramp members and a cross member that, in response to rotation of a screw, move toward or away from the longitudinal faces of the rail of the firearm to secure or release the rail mountable device to or from the rail. Additional embodiments and related methods are provided.

The internal surface may include longitudinal undulations. The internal surface may be faceted or non-faceted. The light source may be at least partially disposed in the cavity. The shape profile of the internal reflective surface in any plane containing the surface's symmetry axis may be non-paraboloidal and may exhibit undulations running along its length. The reflective optical element may be a monolithic structure and may be a beam-shaping reflector that generates a light beam that, in comparison with a paraboloidal reflector having the same hole size, aperture size, and light source, is relatively fainter at small off-axis angles, brighter at mid-range off-axis angles, and fainter at large off-axis angles than a light beam generated by the paraboloidal reflector. Illumination devices may be provided with one or more light sources that emit light of the same, similar, and/or different optical spectra within a wavelength range, for example, from the extreme ultraviolet (UV) to the far infrared (IR). One or more of the light sources may be selectively adjusted to control the overall mix of light projected onto a scene of interest. For example, one or more light sources may be used, and sometimes in conjunction with other optical elements, to provide illumination having a particular angular intensity distribution, color temperature, and/or other desired optical properties for a scene within a field of view (FOV) of the camera of a mobile device used for videography and/or photography. A lighting device attachment for a mobile device may include a housing that defines a cavity or an external coupling member configured to receive the mobile device, a light source within the housing, and an optical element adapted to project light from the light source to illuminate an external scene. The attachment may include multiple light sources and multiple associated optical elements to generate a combined beam for illuminating the external scene which may include the field of view of a camera of the mobile device. The camera and the light sources may be cooperated to capture still or video images. The attachment may include a battery that provides power to the light sources and/or the mobile device and may charge a battery of the mobile device.
