The invention relates to a device and to a method for producing materials having a monocrystalline or multicrystalline structure, wherein a container is arranged between two pressure regions and the level of the melt in the container is adjusted by adjusting the differential pressure between the pressure regions. As a result, even particulate material can be continuously supplied to the container and melted uniformly. Output material of high purity can also be extracted from the container.
