The controller is configured to capture a plurality of images of food of a food plate from the detection device, classify the food on the food plate, responsive to the food plate being removed from view of the detection device, determine, using a prior received image, whether the food is mostly consumed, partially consumed, or mostly unconsumed, responsive to determining that the food was either mostly consumed, partially consumed, or mostly unconsumed, store, in a memory, information pertaining to the food along with a record of the food being either mostly consumed, partially consumed, or mostly unconsumed as per the determination, and transmit the information to at least one other computer in order for modifications to be made to menus and food quality as per the information.

A portable electronic device (PED) holder for a passenger seat back. The PED holder includes a backstop pivotally attachable to the seat back and a shelf pivotally attached to the backstop. In use, the backstop is configured to rotate to a position outside of a recess formed in the seat back and the shelf is configured to rotate open. When the PED holder is fully deployed, the shelf is substantially horizontal and an angle formed between the backstop and a vertical axis is no greater than about negative 45 degrees, such that when a tray table is stowed the closing motion of the tray table causes the shelf to fold against the backstop and the folded PED holder to rotate into the recess. The present disclosure further provides a passenger seat including the PED holder and a PED holder assembly installable as a kit of parts.
An upholstery is described. The upholstery includes a dress cover which covers a cushion. Artificial muscles are incorporated into the dress cover. The artificial muscles improve the pressure distribution between a passenger and the cushion. The artificial muscles are yarns which change length in response to receiving a voltage differential. The change in length of the yarns causes the dress cover to bulge. The bulge of the dress cover then allows the cushion to expand thereby changing the stiffness of the cushion. The voltage differential across the yarns is adjusted to accommodate passengers with a range of weights. The upholstery is applied across an aircraft cabin in seat pans, seat backs, head rests, and leg rests.

A quick release system for an interior apparatus is disclosed. The system may include a release assembly including a release handle and release cables. The release handle may pull the release cables when a force is applied. The system may include a latch assembly including latches coupled to the release cables. Upon applying the force to the release handle, the latch hook may release the apparatus to cause the apparatus to rotate about an axis. The system may include a locking assembly including a lever and a lock plate. Upon applying the force to the release handle, the lock plate may translate between the locked position and the unlocked position to disengage the lock plate from the tracks to cause the apparatus to translate along the tracks.
