The invention provides a trap (100) for capturing and/or killing a mouse, the trap comprising: an enclosure comprising a base (105) connected to at least one movable part (114) and which houses a trigger (107),- the trigger comprising an adhesive section (109); wherein the at least one movable part is urged against the force of a biasing means (120) from a first position wherein the trap is in a closed state into a second position in which the trap is in a set state; wherein the at least one movable part is maintained in the second position by releasably engaging the trigger; and wherein the trap is triggered upon the mouse contacting the adhesive section and elevating the trigger so as to disengage the trigger from the at least one movable part so that it moves from the second position to the first position under the force of the biasing means.
There is disclosed an insect control article comprising a foldable, foraminous web (1) impregnated with at least one vapour active pyrethroid; the web having an upper free edge and a lower edge attached to a base (2) which comprises a first and a second base portion; and a pivot means (6) intermediate the first and the second base portions, the pivot means being adapted to permit the article to adopt an open position in which the web is in an extended self-supporting fan-like shape which includes at least one fold and the at least one vapour active pyrethroid is permitted to emanate from the web at an insecticidally effective rate and a closed position in which the web is sandwiched between the first and the second base portions in a manner such that the at least one vapour active pyrethroid is limited in emanation from the web to a rate of less than 20% of the insecticidally effective rate.
The inventor has found that a satisfactory rate of emanation of an active ingredient can be achieved in an emanating device having a reservoir by providing a treated wick which comprises a concentration of active ingredient that is greater than a concentration of the active ingredient held in the reservoir. The inventor has found that the invention is suitable for use with active ingredients having high, medium or low volatility. Preferred embodiment: Wick-type insecticide dispenser comprising an insecticide-impregnated upper wick portion, a reservoir for an insecticide solution (e.g. pyrethroid) wherein the lower end of the wick is dipped. The concentration of insecticide at the upper wick portion is higher than the one in the solution to ensure rapid and constant insecticide emanation.
The present invention relates to a device for supplying a chemical formulation to a heater unit (50) for vaporising the formulation into an atmosphere, the heater unit (50) having a body housing an internal heating element, the device comprising: a first portion (12) adapted to be inserted through an aperture (52) in said body of the heater unit (50) such that it is at least partially received within said body of the heater unit (50); a second portion (16) configured to store the chemical formulation and being positionable external to the body of the heater unit (50); and a wick element (14) for delivering said chemical formulation from said second portion (16) to an emanation region (27) provided on said first portion (12); wherein, said first portion (12) is configured to be slidingly received by a variety of heater units (50) having apertures (52) of variable configurations, such that the emanation region (27) is optimally positioned adjacent the heating element for vaporisation of the chemical formulation delivered thereto.
The present invention relates to an emanator for emanating at least one vapour active substance such as a vapour active insecticide or an aroma chemical into surrounding air by passive emanation. The emanator comprises a multifilament polyester or polyamide fibre substrate coated and/or dosed with the at least one vapour active substance. The present invention also relates to methods of emanating vapour active substances into the air so as to achieve, for example, insect control. The present invention further relates to the use of an emanator comprising a multifilament polyester or polyamide fibre substrate to achieve passive emanation of vapour active substances into the air.
