An electric winch control module of this disclosure provides improved means for detecting changes in a current carried by an electric winch motor power lead. The module's housing includes a magnetic flux shield contained within an exposed channel of the housing and located at or toward a vertical centerline of the channel and opposite a magnetic flux sensor of the control module. The magnetic flux shield is made of a ferromagnetic material and includes a bottom wall spanning the width of the open bottom of the channel, an open top arranged opposite the top wall of the channel, and opposing sidewalls opposite a respective sidewall of the channel. The shield surrounds the side and lower portions of the lead below the sensor when in the channel, shielding the wire and sensor from outside interference while at the same time exposing an upper portion of the lead to the sensor.

ELECTRIC WINCH CONTROL MODULE WITH MAGNETIC FLUX SHIELD
An electric winch control module (28) of this disclosure provides improved means for detecting changes in a current carried by an electric winch motor power lead (59). The module's housing (41 ) includes a magnetic flux shield (60) contained within an exposed channel (51) of the housing (41) and located at or toward a vertical centerline (54) of the channel (51) and opposite a magnetic flux sensor (49) of the control module (28). The magnetic flux shield (60) is made of a ferromagnetic material and includes a bottom wall (65) spanning the width of the open bottom (55) of the channel (51 ), an open top (61) arranged opposite the top wall (57) of the channel (51 ), and opposing sidewalls (63) opposite a respective sidewall (53) of the channel (51). The shield (60) surrounds the side and lower portions of the lead (59) below the sensor (49) when in the channel (51 ), shielding the wire and sensor from outside interference while at the same time exposing an upper portion of the lead (59) to the sensor (49).

An electronic actuated clutch for a winch. The winch having a motor and drive shaft which are engagable, via an electronically actuated clutch, to a spool. The clutch being operated by a solenoid which engages the clutch via a yoke. The clutch is operable between an engaged and disengaged position through energizing and de-energizing the solenoid. Operation of the clutch moves it linearly along the axis of the drive shaft into and out of engagement with the spool. Operation of the electronically actuated clutch may be done via a remote control.
A mechanical overload sensor system for a planetary winch having a biasing means that when overcome by the force on a ring gear, opens an electric switch which terminates power to the winch.
Monitoring the temperature of the brush of the motor on an electric winch during operation and restricting the operation of the motor within a cooling range in order to minimize downtime and maximize runtime.

System and method for thermal protection of an electric winch
Monitoring the temperature of the brush of the motor on an electric winch during operation and restricting the operation of the motor within a cooling range in order to minimize downtime and maximize runtime.
Monitoring the temperature of the brush (32) of the motor (22) on an electric winch (20) during operation and restricting the operation of the motor (22) within a cooling range in order to minimize downtime and maximize runtime.
An electronically operated clutch for planetary winch where the clutch is disengaged by a first current level and maintained in the disengaged position by a second current level. The second current level being less than the first current level.
The present invention is a crane operating system and method which monitors the crane moment load in order to keep the crane within the safe operating envelope. In determining the current crane moment load the system considers boom raising cylinder pressure, boom angle, chassis incline, as well as hydraulic pressure.
