Abstract

There is provided a winding assembly (16), and a pallet lid (1 ) comprising the winding assembly (16). The winding assembly (16) comprises a rotatable tensioner (37) configured to receive a tensioning line (10) therethrough. The winding assembly (16) further comprises a manual control device (19) to rotate the tensioner (37) from a home position of the tensioner (37) to a tensioning position of the tensioner (37). The winding assembly (16) provides a variable ratio between movement of the manual control device (19) and a tensioning displacement of the tensioning line (10) as the tensioning line (10) is wrapped around the tensioner (37) by rotation of the tensioner (37) towards the tensioning position.

Abstract

A ratchet spool (59) for use in a winding assembly (16) is disclosed. The ratchet spool (59) is rotatable about a principal axis (61). The ratchet spool (59) comprises a main part (20) and a plurality of ratchet teeth (60) arranged circumferentially around the main part (20). The ratchet teeth (60) are engageable by a ratchet arrangement (18) for driving the ratchet spool (59) in a driving direction about said principal axis (61). The ratchet spool (59) also has a drive formation (21) for driving the ratchet spool (59) in said driving direction.

Abstract

A method of handling a load comprising a plurality of articles (100) is disclosed. The method comprises providing a lifting assembly (10) comprising a plurality of carrying arrangements (12) arranged one above another. The carrying arrangements are movable between proximate and separated conditions, whereby adjacent carrying arrangements are spaced from each other by a greater distance in the separated condition than in the proximate condition. The method further includes disposing the articles on the carrying arrangements when the carrying arrangements are in the proximate condition, and moving the carrying arrangements to the separated condition, thereby moving the articles to a spaced configuration. With the carrying arrangements in the separated condition, the method includes delivering the articles to a support assembly (104) to dispose the articles at the support assembly in the spaced configuration.

Abstract

A load-carrying dolly having four wheels (6, 7) adjacent the corners of its platform (1) is rendered immobile by conversion to a pallet-like condition by lowering bearers (9, 10, 11) into contact with the floor or ground (24) and then raising the platform (1) slightly to raise the wheels (6, 7) clear of the floor or ground by means of either of two pedals (25, 32), one below each end of the platform (1), with linkage (of either of two forms, not shown) to bars (23) connecting in “slave” pairs of toggle links (20, 21) by means of which the bearers are suspended through beams (33) connecting upward extensions (12, 13, 14) at the ends of the bearers (9, 10, 11), the toggle links in each pair becoming locked by mating abutments (28) coming together when the links have passed slightly beyond in-line position, the mechanical advantage of the depressed pedal (25 or 32) being amplified by that of the pairs of toggle links when passing through in-line positions.
