A tape is disclosed. The tape includes a metallic foil, an adhesive layer laminated on one surface of the metallic foil and a protective polymeric coating laminated on an opposing second surface of the metallic foil. The protective coating comprises an anti-corrosion agent. The protective coating shields the metallic foil from corrosion and other drawbacks that can occur by environmental exposure. The tape readily can be employed as a busbar tape in photovoltaic cells to provide a cost-effective substitute for the tin-coated copper currently used there.
Pressure sensitive adhesives for use primarily in medical applications are disclosed. The pressure sensitive adhesives are urethane elastomeric adhesives that include a polyurethane polymer and a compatible tackifier and/or compatible plasticizer to achieve an adhesive having a predetermined compliance. An adhesive formulation is disclosed that includes (a) a pre-polymerized cross-linkable non-water soluble acrylic based pressure sensitive adhesive, (b) a cross-linking agent selected from the group consisting of metal chelates, silanes, epoxy-functional compounds, aziridine compounds, multifunctional amines, alkyl halide compounds, multifunctional acids, multifunctional mercaptans, multifunctional epoxy compounds, polyols in the presence of a catalyst, and combinations thereof and (c) a polyol having a weight average molecular weight in the range from 1,000 g/mol to 10,000 g/mol. When cured, the adhesive formulation is self-wetting and has a peel strength less than 20 oz/in.

A method of forming a porous pressure sensitive adhesive tape includes providing a solution for forming an adhesive having pressure sensitive adhesive properties, the solution including a pore forming material, casting a film comprising the solution, laminating a liner on the film, and exposing the adhesive to an energy source to form pores in the adhesive and cure the adhesive to form the pressure sensitive adhesive tape.
The invention provides disintegratable film compositions for diagnostic test devices. The films are prepared with a combination of components that yield films of sufficient film strength and desired disintegration profiles. A disintegratable film according to the present invention contains a water soluble high molecular weight component, a water soluble low molecular weight component, and one or more reagents for use in a diagnostic device. Optionally, the films further contain a starch component, a glucose component, a plasticizer and/or a humectant, and/or a filler. The invention further provides a diagnostic testing device, which includes a film according to an embodiment of the invention, and methods of using such devices.
