The present invention relates to modular jack and method of assembling thereof. The modular jack allows a portion of the stripped jacket of a cable to be contained within the housing of the jack. This ensures that the wires terminate with the insulation displacement contact very close to the point at which the wires are still twisted. A strain relief tab ensures that an external force on the cable does not interfere with the connection that the internal insulated wires make with the insulation displacement contacts of the conductive terminal, ensuring a reliable electrical connection. Termination is made by displacing the wire contact portion of the conductive terminal to pierce the insulation of the insulated wires.
The present invention relates to a pull-through modular jack and method of use thereof. The modular jack allows wires to be fed through the housing and pulled tight prior to terminating. This ensures that the wires terminate with the insulation displacement contact very close to the point at which the wires are still twisted. Termination is made by moving a pressing portion to a pressed position, which then pushes the wires into the insulation displacement contacts that displace the wire insulation to make contact.

A coaxial cable connector is provided, the connector comprising: a connector body; a physical parameter sensing circuit, positioned within the connector body; and a status output component, configured to report an ascertained physical parameter status to a location outside of the connector body. A corresponding method of ascertaining a physical parameter status of a connector connection is disclosed.
In a presentation system, a source device provides uncompressed presentation content in an HDMI format. A first conversion device converts the uncompressed presentation content to an uncompressed second format and entirely transmits the uncompressed presentation content in the second format along an electrically conductive member. A second conversion device receives the uncompressed presentation content in the second format from the conductive member and converts the uncompressed presentation content to the HDMI format. For example, the conductive member may be that of a coaxial cable.
A compression connector for smooth walled, corrugated, and spiral corrugated coaxial cable includes an insulator disposed within the body, wherein the insulator contains a central opening therein which is dimensioned smaller than a collet portion, or second clamp, which seizes a center conductor of the coaxial cable. The connector also includes a first clamp disposed inside the body as well as a compression sleeve assembly. The body includes a transitional surface separating the body into two regions of different inside diameter. When an axial force is applied to the compression sleeve, the clamp is forced by the transitional surface into the body region having a smaller diameter, causing the clamp to squeeze onto an outer conductor layer of the coaxial cable. At approximately the same time, the collet portion is forced through the central opening, causing the collet portion to squeeze onto the center conductor.
A releasably engaging plug comprises a plug body having an extension, the outer surface of the extension having at least one projection thereon. The projection is configured to releasably engage at least one spring biased tab of a mating receptacle upon insertion of the extension into the receptacle. Engagement of the spring biased tab with the projection increases the mechanical friction fit between the mating components.
A locking plug comprises a plug body having an opening and an actuator that moves between a first position where a locking tab is biased to protrude from the opening and a second position where the locking tab is positioned wthin the opening.
An assembly for connecting a coaxial cable to a connecting port. The connecting assembly has a tubular fitting with a central axis and axially spaced first and second ends. The tubular fitting is operatively engageable with a coaxial cable directed into axially overlapping relationship with the tubular fitting at the first end of the tubular fitting. The tubular fitting has a first connecting assembly including a first connecting part that is movable around the central axis selectively in (a) a first direction to a secured state and (b) oppositely to the first direction from the secured state into a released state. In the secured state, the first connecting part maintains a coaxial cable, operatively engaged with the tubular fitting, connected to the connecting port. A shield assembly blocks radial access to the first connecting assembly in a manner that allows the first connecting part to be accessed and moved from the secured state into the released state . with the shield assembly in the operative state. The shield assembly cooperates with the tubular fitting to allow the shield assembly to be placed, and maintained, in the operative state by relative axial movement of the shield assembly and tubular fitting.

A compression connector for the end of an annular corrugated coaxial cable is provided wherein the compression connector includes a clamp having a plurality of through slots and a spring to enable the cable to be positioned so as to be securely engageable to/within the connector without causing deformation of the cable and also to allow the cable to be prepared by being cut at a corrugation valley rather than a corrugation peak.
An expanding contact used within a cable connector to make a solid connection with a hollow center conductor of a coaxial cable includes two pieces, a pin and a guide. The pin includes a plurality of slots which form a like plurality of fingers, while the guide includes a plurality of tabs which fit into the plurality of slots. Ends of the fingers include a ramped portion which interacts with a ramped portion of the guide. When the pin is pushed against the guide, the fingers are pushed outward because of the ramped portions of the fingers sliding against the ramped portion of the guide. Before the ends are pushed outward, the pin/guide combination can slide easily into and out of the hollow center conductor, but when the fingers are pushed outward, the fingers make a substantial interference fit with the inner walls of the hollow center conductor.
The present invention incorporates a flexible RF seal into the ground face of a typical connector. The seal comprises a flexible brim, a transition band, and tubular insert with a insert chamber defined within the seal. In a first embodiment the flexible brim is angled away from the insert chamber, and in a second embodiment the flexible brim is angled inward toward the insert chamber. A flange end of the seal makes a compliant contact between the port and connector faces when the nut of a connector is partially tightened, and becomes sandwiched firmly between the ground surfaces when the nut is properly tightened. The present invention allows the connector to make a uniform RF seal on a port even with a range of tightening torques.
The combination of an elongate cable and a connector assembly. The elongate cable has a central axis and a receptacle with a radially inwardly facing conductive surface. A body on the connector assembly has an insert portion with a wall having a radially inwardly facing surface and a radially outwardly facing conductive surface. A first connector is in electrical contact with the radially outwardly facing conductive surface on the wall. The insert portion is extended into the receptacle on the cable. A biasing assembly is configured to produce a resilient radial force on the wall of the connector assembly so as to maintain the radially outwardly facing conductive surface of the wall in electrical contact with the radially inwardly facing conductive surface of the elongate cable to thereby maintain a conductive path between the radially inwardly facing conductive surface on the elongate cable and the first connector.
The invention provides a connector for coax cable with a snap bearing providing the interface between the inner body and the outer body. A concave surface below the snap bearing, which is retained by a pair of shoulders, allows the snap bearing to elastically deform during assembly of the connector to thereby reduce the risk of plastic deformation of the components while allowing significant improvements in overlap at the interface of the components.
A compression-type coaxial cable connector (20) includes a post with at least one helical thread (26) thereon. A typical coaxial cable includes a dielectric layer and a cable braid. The threaded post (26) engages the coaxial cable between the cable braid and the dielectric layer, and can be installed by screwing the threaded post into the coaxiai cable end.
