An autonomous delivery vehicle having one or more caster wheels that may be held off the ground for a portion of the time that the autonomous delivery vehicle travels. Each caster wheel is mounted in a pivot with a centering mechanism to hold the caster wheels in a design orientation. The caster wheel in the design orientation maximizes the view of forward-looking sensors on the autonomous delivery vehicle. The centering mechanism uses a compression spring that drives a follower and swashshaft to apply a rotation force on the caster wheels. The rotational force urges the casters frame and wheels to return to a design position. The rotational force increases with the rotational difference between the caster rotational position and the design position.

A system and method for maintaining the vitality of an organ through negative pressure ventilation and perfusion. The system includes fluidically coupled components: an organ enclosure, a diaphragm enclosure, an actuator/pump, a perfusion system, and a reservoir. The actuator can displace a precise amount of a working fluid that displaces that precise amount of a sterile support fluid. The sterile fluid travels between the diaphragm enclosure and the organ enclosure, thereby ventilating the organ within the organ chamber. The perfusion system circulates a perfusate through the organ.

A disposable flow-stop cartridge for medical infusion systems may include a top housing secured to a bottom housing and a tube-coupling slot that routes a tubing segment. First and second links between the housings may be pivotally coupled to move between an occluding position, in which a plunger on a first link may compress the tube against a backstop, and a non-occluding position that may permit flow. Motion of the first link may be constrained by a guide that slides in a housing-formed track. A distal identification section on the top housing may present a row of apertures arranged along a read direction for optical identification. Variants may include end-stop surfaces, an arcuate tube-coupling slot, a slider-type guide with U-shaped, T-slot, or dovetail tracks, an externally accessible flange, a coplanar or ledged identification section with evenly spaced apertures that may encode a binary sequence, and an oblong bottom opening for tube routing.
A medical infusion fluid handling system, such as an automated peritoneal dialysis system, may be arranged to de-cap and connect one or more lines (such as solution lines) with one or more spikes or other connection ports on a fluid handling cassette. This feature may reduce a likelihood of contamination since no human interaction is required to de-cap and connect the one or more lines and the one or more spikes. For example, the automated peritoneal dialysis system may include a carriage arranged to receive the one or more lines each having a connector end and a cap. The carriage may move along a first direction so as to move the connector ends of the one or more lines along the first direction, and a cap stripper may be arranged to engage with the caps on the solution lines on the carriage. The cap stripper may move in a second direction transverse to the first direction, as well as to move with the carriage along the first direction.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR DETECTING DISCONNECTION OF AN INTRAVASCULAR ACCESS DEVICE
An apparatus and method are disclosed for detecting the disconnection of a vascular access device such as a needle, cannula or catheter from a blood vessel or vascular graft segment. A pair of electrodes is placed in direct contact with fluid or blood in fluid communication with the vascular segment. In one embodiment, the electrodes are incorporated into a pair of connectors connecting arterial and venous catheters to arterial and venous tubes leading to and from an extracorporeal blood flow apparatus. Wires leading from the electrodes to a detecting circuit can be incorporated into a pair of double lumen arterial and venous tubes connecting the blood flow apparatus to the blood vessel or vascular graft. The detecting circuit is configured to provide a low-voltage alternating current signal to the electrodes to measure the electrical resistance between the electrodes, minimizing both the duration and amount of current being delivered. Detection of an increase in electrical resistance between the electrodes exceeding a pre-determined threshold value may be used to indicate a possible disconnection of the vascular access device.

This disclosure relates to a gravity-driven infusion system that uses image-based monitoring to regulate flow. A contrasting, infrared-backlit wall and camera capture pendant drops and meniscus levels within a transparent drip chamber. The controller defines a baseline referenced to the spout or meniscus and fits sparse spline points on the drop perimeter to derive geometric functionals, such as neck width and centroid height. Temporal changes of these functionals map directly to instantaneous flow without explicit volume integration. An optional Young-Laplace model provides a physics-based boundary and confidence metric. A meniscus trend yields a low-frequency flow estimate. Confidence-weighted fusion controls a flow-control valve that compresses a multi-lumen insert. An independent safety occluder and watchdog ensure fail-safe shutdown. A medication library stores fluid-aware calibration. Multi-source embodiments orchestrate multiple controllers with virtual head-height equalization and verified handoffs. It performs pre-infusion checks, logs uncertainty, and supports tilt compensation too. Continuous stream detection triggers alarms.

A method for filling a reservoir a filling assembly having a needle, and a fluid. The reservoir is in a disposable housing assembly with a septum fluidly connected to the reservoir, a septum access assembly having a first position covering the septum and a second position providing access to the septum, and a bias mechanism for biasing the septum access assembly to the first position. The method includes piercing the septum with the needle, inserting fluid to the reservoir through the needle, contacting the filling assembly to the septum access assembly, and removing the needle from the septum. Removing the needle from the septum allows the bias mechanism to move the septum access assembly from the second position to the first position. The disposable housing assembly is attached to a reusable housing assembly.

Hemodialysis and similar dialysis systems including a variety of systems and methods that make hemodialysis more efficient, easier, and/or more affordable, and include new fluid circuits for fluid flow in hemodialysis systems and a reciprocating diaphragm pump for pumping fluids. The reciprocating diaphragm pump includes a flexible diaphragm, a first rigid body having a curved pumping chamber wall, a second rigid body having an opposing curved control chamber wall. The diaphragm is interposed between the pumping chamber wall and the control chamber wall to define a pumping chamber and a control chamber. The diaphragm of the pump has a peripheral bead arranged to locate the diaphragm between the first rigid body and the second rigid body and a diaphragm body having a curved, semi-spheroid or domed shape. The diaphragm is pre-formed or molded so that during a delivery stroke of the pump, the elastic force of the diaphragm resisting its deployment into the pumping chamber prevents a peripheral portion of the diaphragm body from fully contacting the pumping chamber wall.
