A time-domain signal of a sample is recorded using a THz time-domain setup utilizing the delay device for adjustment of a delay between a THz signal and a light signal overlapping in a THz receiver, the sample having at least one absorption line in the THz range. An optimization algorithm configured to find a candidate delay error curve by iteratively: generating a candidate delay error curve, reconstructing a time-domain signal by applying the candidate delay error curve to the recorded time-domain signal; calculating a frequency spectrum based on the reconstructed time-domain signal; and determining one or more absorption line features in the calculated frequency spectrum. An objective of the optimization algorithm is to find the candidate delay error curve that results in absorption lines in the frequency spectrum that most resemble true absorption lines. The optimization algorithm finds a delay error curve corresponding to an extremum in an objective function comprising the one or more absorption line features. The determined delay error curve can be used to correct or calibrate for linear and nonlinear systematic delay error of the delay device. Fig. 1 is to be published with the abstract.

BIOLOGICAL PRODUCTION OF POLYHYDROXYALKANOATES AND MONOMERS THEREFOR USING ENGINEERED PSEUDOMONAS CELLS
The present invention relates to cells and methods for producing polymers from acetate. The invention also relates to cells with increased tolerance to short-chain organic acids, such as acetate. In particular, the invention relates to production of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB), fluorinated 3-hydroxybutyrate and fluorinated PHB (F-PHB) from acetate and/or F-acetate using bacterial cells with increased tolerance to acetate.
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing a multilayer structure with internal voids, such as monolithic stacks for solid-state electrochemical devices such as batteries, SOFC/SOEC stacks, gas separation devices, etc. The method comprises providing green layers comprising a first binder and enclosing a mold material that fills out an interstice between the layers. The layers are adhered, such as by application of elevated pressure and/or temperature, to form a multilayered structure having a mold-filled interstice with no fluid connections to an outside of the multilayer structure. Thereafter, the multilayer structure is machined to provide a fluid connection between the at least one mold-filled interstice and the outside of the multilayer structure. A viscosity of at least part of the mold material is decreased to allow easy removal of the mold material from the at least one interstice via the fluid connection, thereby forming an internal void in the multilayer structure. The viscosity decrease is induced without initiating a phase change to gas phase in and/or combustion of the first binder, i.e., without initiating de-binding or binder burnout. After removal of the mold material, there are free access to the binder-containing materials inside the structure via the voids and fluid connections, and the multilayer structure can be heat treated to perform binder burnout and sintering without the risk of structural damage.

A method for quantitative detection of glucose in a liquid sample using continuous wave (CW) Terahertz (THz) spectroscopy such as THz cross-correlation spectroscopy (CCS) or THz frequency domain spectroscopy (FDS) in an attenuated total reflection (ATR) setup is disclosed. A continuous-wave (CW) light signal is used to generate a THz signal reflecting off an internal face of a sample surface of an ATR element. An electric detection signal resulting from an interference between THz radiation from the sample and the CW light signal can be recorded while a phase or a frequency domain parameter of the CW light signal is adjusted. A spectrum of the electric detection signal as a function of an adjustment of a phase or a frequency domain parameter is recorded while an external face of the sample surface is in contact with a sample comprising a liquid solution of glucose. The recorded spectrum is analysed using a supervised machine learning algorithm trained on similarly recorded spectra from similar liquid solutions with known glucose levels to estimate a glucose level in the liquid solution of the sample. The method can be used for quantitative, non-invasive, in-vivo detection of glucose in living subjects and other active metabolic systems.
