Abstract
The present invention relates to a filtering cartridge (1), which can be used particularly in an IC engine for filtering the suction air of the engine, as well as to a filtering device (21) comprising such a filtering cartridge. According to the invention, said filtering cartridge (1) comprises a peripheral sealing gasket (7), which in cross-section is substantially flat on the side oriented towards the outlet pleated face for the filtered air (3b) and has a convex profile towards the inlet pleated face for the air to be filtered (3a) of said cartridge; correspondingly, the filtering device (21) according to the invention comprises a casing (23) in which there is provided a seat for said peripheral gasket (7), said seat having a concave profile in cross-section. This configuration - along with the fact that the peripheral gasket (7) is not arranged in parallel to the pleated faces (3a,3b) of the filtering cartridge (1), but inclined with respect thereto - allows to optimize tightness efficiency between said filtering cartridge and said casing and, consequently, to improve filtering efficiency, while maintaining limited space requirements.
