Abstract

Electromagnetically-operated coupling device (14) for selectively connecting and disconnecting a first rotating member (10) and a second rotating member (12) in a driveline of a vehicle is disclosed, wherein the first and the second rotating members (10, 12) are coaxial with each other and rotatable about a same*axis of rotation (x). The coupling device (14) comprises: an engagement sleeve (16) provided with a control disk (20) made of a ferromagnetic material, the engagement sleeve (16) being axially slidable between an engaged position and a disengaged position; and a control system for controlling the sliding movement of the engagement sleeve (16) between said engaged and disengaged positions. The control system comprises a pair of magnetic coils (28, 30) which are placed on opposite sides of the control disk (20), coaxially therewith, and are arranged to be selectively activated by an electric current to generate a magnetic force acting on the control disk (20) to axially move the control disk (20), and therefore also the engagement sleeve (16), in either directions. The control system further comprises an elaboration unit (34) for controlling activation and deactivation of the magnetic coils (28, 30) based on the axial position of the engagement sleeve (16).

The friction clutch comprises: a driving part comprising at least one first friction element; a driven part comprising a hub and at least one second friction element drivingly connected for rotation with the hub; at least one spring configured to press the friction elements of the driving part and of the driven part against each other by applying an elastic force on these friction elements; and an actuation unit arranged to bring about opening of the friction clutch by applying directly or indirectly on the at least one spring an actuating force directed in the opposite direction to the elastic force so as to move the friction elements away from each other. The actuation unit comprises a thrust bearing, at least one force transmission member and a hollow actuating member arranged to apply the actuating force on the at least one spring via the thrust bearing and the at least one force transmission member. The hollow actuating member is arranged on the opposite side of the hub to the at least one spring. The at least one force transmission member extends through the hub.

Abstract

A transmission includes a main gearbox and an electric machine. The main gearbox has a primary shaft, a secondary shaft and gear sets, each having a driving gearwheel carried by a respective primary shaft and a driven gearwheel carried by a respective secondary shaft. A first gearwheel and a second gearwheel meshing with each other are idly mounted on the primary shaft and on the secondary shaft, respectively, and are selectively connectable for rotation with the respective shaft by a first coupling device and of a second coupling device, respectively. The electric machine is releasably connected to the first gearwheel or to the second gearwheel, such that with the first coupling device in an engaged position the electric machine is able to transmit torque to the primary shaft on which the first gearwheel is mounted, while with the second coupling device in an engaged position, the electric machine is able to transmit torque to the secondary shaft on which the second gearwheel is mounted. The transmission further includes a secondary gearbox with two or more gears between the electric machine and the first or the second gearwheel.

Abstract

The transmission comprises: a primary shaft; a secondary shaft; a gearing of first speed comprising a first driving gearwheel carried by the primary shaft and a first driven gearwheel carried by the secondary shaft and permanently meshing with the first driving gearwheel; a gearing of second speed comprising a second driving gearwheel carried by the primary shaft and a second driven gearwheel carried by the secondary shaft and permanently meshing with the second driving gearwheel; an overrunning clutch associated to one of the first driving gearwheel and first driven gearwheel to allow the transmission of the torque via the gearing of first speed only in the direction from the primary shaft to the secondary shaft; a first coupling device arranged to connect either of the first driving gearwheel and first driven gearwheel, namely the gearwheel to which the overrunning clutch is associated, for rotation directly with the respective shaft, so as to allow the transmission of the torque via the gearing of first speed also in the direction from the secondary shaft to the primary shaft; and a second coupling device arranged to connect either of the second driving gearwheel and second driven gearwheel for rotation with the respective shaft. The first and second coupling devices are both shiftable between an open condition and a closed condition independently of each other. The first coupling device is normally open, whereas the second coupling device is normally closed.
