Abstract

In a method to execute a pause in an ink printing system printing operation in which a printing substrate web is printed with print bars having print heads, with aid of a take-up roller moving the printing substrate web at printing speed past the print bars in a transfer printing zone in order to generate print images. Upon triggering the pause, a strain state of the printing substrate web is measured at a beginning of the pause and stored as a desired strain state. During the pause, the strain state of the printing substrate web is measured as a real strain state at selectable points in time, and the real strain state is compared with desired strain state. Given a deviation of the real strain state from the desired strain state, at the selectable points in time the take-up roller is controlled so that the strain state of the printing substrate web assumes the desired strain state at the beginning of the pause. After an end of the pause, the printing substrate web is transported with the take-up roller at the printing speed again.

Abstract

In a system or method for supplying print bars with a plurality of print heads with ink in an inkjet printer, a pressure source is activated in a flushing procedure in order to exert an excess pressure to the ink in intermediate tanks supplying ink to the print bars such that the ink is flushed through jets of a print head to be flushed in the respective print bar. The pressure source is shut off when printing. The ink in the intermediate tanks is transported to the print heads by means by hydrostatic pressure. In the event of an overflow of the intermediate tanks, overflowing ink is transported into an overflow container via a respective pressure line connecting the overflow container to the respective intermediate container.

Abstract

In a method for printing recording media successively supplied to a printing unit, and wherein a sheet gap is provided from a preceding recording medium, document print data are subjected to a rastering process. A predetermined nominal number of lines is respectively provided for the document print data of a page. The raster print data are successively stored line by line in a print data memory region of an electronic memory. A blank line memory region for a blank line that is not to be filled with print data is provided in the memory. The raster print data are successively read out per line from the print data memory region of the memory and are supplied to the printing unit. After the read out of the nominal number of lines from the print data memory region, the blank line memory region is then read out a number of times, said number of times being a whole number greater than or equal to zero and being dependent on the sheet gap.

Abstract

In order to print image information grouped line by line onto a recording medium (2), wherein the recording medium (2) is guided at a variable speed past a print head (20, 20a...20o, 27a...27c), the position and/or a speed variable of the recording medium (2) in its movement direction (A) are/is determined regularly by way of a measuring device (12), and measured signals (12, 13) are formed cyclically in the process. In an electronic divider circuit (35), a firing signal (36) is formed in each case from every n-th measured signal (12, 13), wherein n is a division value which is changed dynamically during printing operation over a plurality of image lines. The printing in the print head (20, 20a...20o, 27a...27c) is released for a predefined image line in each case by way of the firing signals (12, 13). As a result, a positionally accurate printed image can be achieved even during corresponding acceleration phases of the recording medium (2) with regard to the movement direction.

Abstract

In a method or device to sample a web movement, an incremental encoder translates the web movement into two phase-offset output signals. A quadrature decoder generates first and second digital output signals with two respective signal levels. The first output signal is designated as a forward signal and the second output signal is designated as a backward signal. An evaluation circuit outputs a control signal and has a first counter that counts a signal change of the forward signal and subtracts from the count a signal change of the backward signal. A second counter counts a signal change of the control signal. A comparator compares values of the first and the second counters. A disabling device enables the forward signal if values of both the first and second counters are the same so that the forward signal is output, and disables the forward signal if values of the two counters are different.

The invention relates to a method used by an apparatus for activating a processing device for processing a surface of a moving workpiece in web form. The processing is subject to a time delay between an activation of the device performing the processing and the action of the processing on the workpiece. The movement of the workpiece is sensed by an incremental encoder. According to the invention, the number of work pulses generated by the incremental encoder in a time interval that corresponds to the delay is measured. In accordance with the number of work pulses measured, a control pulse for activating the processing device is emitted earlier, thereby compensating for the delay in the processing. In a preferred exemplary embodiment of the present invention, this method is implemented very easily in a hardware circuit by means of two shift registers and a buffer register.

Abstract

In a method to correct a registration error in a printing process, data of first and second images to be printed are subjected to a raster image process via which at least first and second raster graphics are generated. Control data for a print member or two respective print members are formed from the first and the second raster graphics. A recording medium is printed in a first printing process with the control data of the first image. The recording medium is subjected to a treatment via which the recording medium and the first image deform along at least one deformation axis. The recording medium is printed by the print member with the control data of the second image in a second printing process. To avoid a registration error between the first and second printed images, the control data of the respective raster graphic of at least one of the first and the second print images as a source image are processed along an image processing axis of the respective raster graphic that corresponds to the deformation axis, and wherein respective source pixels to be used for the respective raster graphic are selected stochastically from the source image in a direction transverse to the image processing axis.

Abstract

In order to sample the web movement of a material web (10) in a processing operation, particularly a printing operation, an incremental encoder (16) is used, wherein during a backward movement of the material web (10), which is not intended per se, the output of signals (up, dn) generated by the incremental encoder (16) is suppressed and said signals are not output again until a forward movement follows the backward movement, wherein the path of the forward movement corresponds to the path of the previously performed backward movement of the material web (10). Only then are control signals (up*) corresponding to the signals (up, dn) output.

Abstract

The invention relates to a cleaning device comprising a cleaning roller (17). Preferably, two charging electrodes (23, 24) are disposed adjacently to the cleaning roller, electrically charging the surface of the cleaning roller such that electrical field forces are exerted on the residual toner remaining on a developer roller (18) after developing. The residual toner transferred to the cleaning roller is guided past the charging electrodes. In order to prevent buildup of residual toner on the charging electrodes due to the charging potential present at the charging electrode, the charging electrodes are adjacent to the cleaning roller, such that the residual toner on the cleaning roller wipes along the charging electrodes and wipes away toner adhering thereto.

Abstract

For optimized communication between two memory-related processes in a computer system, a synchronization function is coupled with an operating system function such that it withholds an output of an operating system message that signals a data end of a file in a memory region of the computer system. It can thus be avoided that a memory read process interrupts the reading of the file because a memory write process has not yet written all data of the file into the corresponding memory region.

Abstract

The following steps are carried out in order to determine the character width of characters printed by a printing device: - in a first raster cell (RZ1) of a printing raster, for example a toner mark, a first test pattern (TM1) is produced from printed dots (DP) and the area coverage of said pattern is measured, - in a second raster cell (RZ2) of the printing raster, a second test pattern (TM2) is produced, in which pattern the printed dots are arranged at different locations in comparison with the first test pattern, and the area coverage of the second test pattern is measured, - the ratio of the area coverages of the first and second test patterns (TM1, TM2) is formed and the result is used to calculate the size of the printed dots. A table in which the dependence of the ratios of the area coverages of the first and second test patterns is entered against the dot sizes is used for this purpose, for example.

Abstract

The developer mixture (GE) is guided past the developer roller (2) in the developer station (ES), via a cleaning roller (3) which is used to clean the remaining toner off the developer roller (2). As a result of an electric field between the developer roller (2) and the cleaning roller (3), a cleaning roller current (IWR) flows between the developer roller (2) and the cleaning roller (3) when a developer mixture is moved through the electric field (E). Said current is measured as an actual value (Ist-IRW). The difference between the actual value (Ist-IRW) and a pre-determined nominal value (Soll-IRW) is determined, said difference representing a measure for the deterioration of the developer mixture (GE).

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for printing or copying toner images onto a substrate material, in which image elements of each page (S10) are subsequently inspected as to whether said elements meet a specified image criterion (S12), in which case an increase in toner accumulation is made. For image elements that meet this criterion, an illustration unit is driven in such a way that the radiation energy per pixel for this image element is reduced (S16), at least in partial regions. For the other image elements, the nominal energy (S14) is used for the illumination energy.

Abstract

When printing units (DE1, DE2) are situated on the same side of a continuous photoconductor (1) that is pre-charged with an initial potential, each unit having a character generator (4, 7) and a developer station (5, 8) that operates according to the 'tribo jump' principle, said elements generating a charge image on the photoconductor (1) and said image being coloured with charged toner by a jump roller located in the developer station and supplied with a pre-voltage (bias voltage), there is a risk that a toner image generated by a first printing unit (DE1) becomes damaged in the subsequent second printing unit (DE2) by the fact that the toner of said first image is dislodged by toner from the second printing unit (DE2) and enters said second unit (DE2). To eliminate this risk, the charge image developed with toner by the first printing unit (DE1) and the photoconductor (1) are transferred by a transfer unit (12) to a transfer potential after leaving the printing unit (DE1) and before reaching the next printing unit, the value of said transfer potential being greater than the bias voltage of the jump roller in the second printing unit (DE2).

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and an arrangement for setting the dot size (B1, B2) of toner images generated with the aid of an electrographic printing or copying system. At least one latent raster image which is not inked in with toner particles over the whole area is generated and inked in with toner particles to form a toner image (39). A measure of the area of the toner image (39) that has actually been inked in with toner particles is determined and compared as actual value (x2) with a desired value (w2). An electric field (E1, E2) for transferring toner particles to the regions of the latent raster image that are to be inked in is set depending on the comparison result. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method and an arrangement for controlling an image generating process of an electrographic printing or copying system, and a computer program product for carrying out the methods.

Abstract

Charge patterns of the images to be printed are produced on a photoconductive strip (OPC) and transformed into toner images using toner, and the toner images are transferred to a transfer strip (TFB) from which they are pressed onto an end image carrier (AT) once the end image carrier has been pivoted onto the transfer strip. The time of the production of the charge pattern on the photoconductive strip (OPC) and/or the transfer of the toner images to the transfer strip (TFB) is set such that the vibrations and disturbances caused on the transfer strip (TFB) and the photoconductive strip (OPC) by the pivoting of the end image carrier (AT) onto or off the transfer strip (TFB) do not have any influence on the production of the charge patterns on the photoconductive strip (OPC) and/or on the transfer of the toner images from the photoconductive strip (OPC) to the transfer strip (TFB).

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for operating a data bus as well as a data bus system. In the inventive method, temporary user ID numbers are determined based on the serial numbers of the respective bus user when new bus users are connected, and said temporary ID numbers are used as identifiers for bus messages, by means of which definitive user ID numbers are allocated. The definitive user ID numbers are shorter than the serial numbers, thus making it possible to use bus messages with correspondingly short identifiers during definitive operation. The inventive data bus system is configured such that a data bus is automatically connected at the correct surge impedance simply by connecting a new bus user to an existing data bus with the aid of a bus cable. The inventive method and the inventive data bus system make it easier to connect and disconnect bus users.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method and to a device for scanning an image, wherein a source image is detected by means of a colour sensor. The colour sensor comprises several line arrays which are formed, respectively, to detect a specific colour. Colour separations are generated by means of said line arrays. According to the invention, separate FIR partial filters are applied to the colour separations without having to mix said colour separations prior to a complete colour image. Mixing of the image pixels occurs automatically during filtering. As a result, the several line arrays can scan the image points of the source image simultaneously and said image points can be formed in real time on image pixels of a target image.
