Abstract

The present invention provides a construction block (10) able to be assembled into walls and like structures of a building. A wall (108) constructed from the construction blocks (10) comprises a plurality of courses of the blocks (10) arranged one upon another. The construction block (10) comprises a moulded hollow polymer body (22) which may comprise recycled polymer and which has having top and bottom faces (14, 12), first and second upright end faces (16a, 16b), an upright front face (18) and an upright rear face (20). The first end face (16a) is provided with at least one male location feature (50) receivable by a complementary female feature (52) of the second end face (16b) of another similarly formed block, whereby in the wall the construction block (10) is able to locate with respect to neighbouring construction blocks (10) in the same course. One of the top and bottom faces (14, 12) is provided with at least one male location feature (60, 62, 64) receivable by a complementary female location feature (66, 68, 70) of the other of the top and bottom faces (14, 12) of another similarly formed block, whereby in the wall (108) the construction block (10) is able to locate with respect to neighbouring construction blocks (10) in the courses above it and below it. The front face (18) carries a front facing (24) which may contribute fire resistance.
