Abstract

The invention relates to a composite, a crankcase, a reciprocating internal combustion engine, and a method for producing a reciprocating internal combustion engine. A problem faced in the production of engine blocks is that requirements concerning component cleanliness and residual soiling standards have recently been greatly increased. Therefore, the problem addressed by this invention is that of simplifying engine block cleaning after casting, and allowing current and future residual soiling standards to be adhered to, while providing a solution to the challenges of current and future high-powered engines specifically for the load regions, namely the head plate and the cylinder pipe, and providing potential for locally improving properties in the crankcase in the additional load regions, namely the head and crankshaft bearing screw connection. This problem is solved inter alia by virtue of a composite that consists of at least two cylinders and one planar cylinder head support surface that connects these, wherein said composite consisting of at least two cylinders and the planar cylinder head support surface that connects these is made as a single piece, said planar cylinder head support surface having a recess for each cylinder, and the composite being able to be inserted into or placed onto a crankcase of a reciprocating internal combustion engine; and is solved in that at least one coolant guide is arranged between said cylinders.

Abstract

The invention relates to a casting method with a lost or partially lost casting mould, in which at least one castable component is arranged in the casting mould, is moistened with sizing material and is at least partially surrounded by casting material. The invention also relates to a cast part produced according to said method. In order to develop a method in which the castable component can be inserted into the lost casting mould even without a coating agent prior to blowing out of the lost casting mould and prior to applying the sizing material to the surface of the lost casting mould, the castable component is cleaned after applying the sizing material. The castable component can thereby be inserted into the casting form immediately after production thereof and does not require surface treatment with a coating agent.

Abstract

The invention relates to a cast iron material with lamellar graphite formation. It further relates to a motor vehicle part made of the cast iron material. In order to create a ferritic cast iron material having a higher thermal conductivity, the invention provides that, in addition to Fe, the cast iron material contains 3.9-4.2 wt% C, 0.3-0.9 wt% Si and 2.0-7 wt% Al. It has been demonstrated within the scope of the invention that, not only the thermal conductivity, but also the wear resistance and corrosion resistance of the material are increased in comparison to known cast iron materials.

Abstract

The invention relates to a method for producing cast iron, in particular cast iron having vermicular graphite, comprising the following steps: producing a melt; determining a sulfur content of the melt and determining a normal temperature-related oxygen activity of the melt; separating two parts of the melt as first and second test melts; and determining at least two points of the respective cooling curve of the test melts and adding an amount of inoculant in accordance with the determined points on the cooling curves by means of an inoculant formula. Said method is intended to improve the reliability of the formation of GJV from the melt. In particular, the invention thus specifies a correspondingly improved production method.
