Abstract

A communication frame for an OTFS transmission system includes at least one first-type and at least one second-type block. At least the first-type block includes data signals two-dimensionally arranged along the delay domain and the Doppler domain of which at least one has a superimposed pilot signal. The second-type block includes data signals two-dimensionally arranged along the delay domain and the Doppler domain which may or may not have superimposed pilot signals. At least one second-type block is preceded and followed, in the delay-domain, by first-type blocks, the first-type blocks preceding and following a second-type block having at least one identical data symbol and associated superimposed identical pilot symbol at an identical location in the two-dimensional arrangement. An OTFS transmitter generates and transmits the communication frame, and a receiver uses its properties for compensating oscillator frequency offset and channel estimation.

Abstract

A communication frame for an OTFS transmission system includes first-type and second-type blocks. The first-type block includes pilot signals, guard signals, and data signals, the second-type block exclusively includes data signals. The pilot symbols, guard signals, and data symbols of the first-type block, and the data symbols of the second-type block, are arranged along the points of a grid in the delay-Doppler domain. In the communication frame, a first-type block is followed by a second-type block, and a second-type block is followed by a first-type block. In the first-type block at least one pilot symbol is surrounded on at least three sides by one or more guard symbols. Points of the grid of the first-type blocks in the delay-Doppler domain that are not occupied by pilot symbols or guard symbols are used for data symbols. The communication frame permits determining oscillator frequency offset and channel coefficients in a receiver.

A vision transformer accelerator is provided, including: a plurality of kernel blocks, each kernel block configured to compute operations of a vision transformer model, including matrix multiplication operations and different types of non-linear functions; a weight buffer configured to store weight data associated with the vision transformer model; a kernel input bus configured to transfer input data of a current encoder layer of the vision transformer model to each of the plurality of kernel blocks; a kernel output bus configured to transfer first output data of each of the plurality of kernel blocks to a next encoder layer of the vision transformer model; and a weight bus configured to transfer weight data from the weight buffer to each of the plurality of kernel blocks. Furthermore, each of the plurality of kernel blocks includes: a plurality of matrix buffers, each matrix buffer configured to store one or more matrices; a matrix-multiplication unit communicatively coupled to the plurality of matrix buffers and the weight buffer, the matrix-multiplication unit being configured to compute a matrix multiplication operation based on at least one matrix stored in one or more of the plurality of matrix buffers; and a non-linear function block configured to compute each of the different types of non-linear functions. There is also provided a corresponding method of operating the vision transformer accelerator.

A system and method of docking a wheelchair relative to an object such as a table. The method includes converting a user-selected 2D point in a 2D image of a scene into a 3D point in a 3D point cloud of the scene. A first group of edges is determined from the 3D point cloud based on the 3D point. The method includes defining an intermediate dock pose and an approximated reference edge. The method includes determining a second group of edges from the 3D point cloud and at least one potential reference edge. Abstract

Disclosed is a method for phase-restoring translational shifting of a multidimensional image. The method comprises computing a first shifted, complex-valued image by converting a spectral signal (corresponding to the multidimensional image) to a shifted spectral signal and transforming the shifted spectral signal along a first axis. A spatial frequency component of the multidimensional image is then computed by transforming the first shifted, complex-valued image along at least one further axis perpendicular to the first axis. Thereafter, a phase-restored image is produced by converting the spatial frequency component of the multidimensional image to a shifted spatial frequency spectrum and applying an inverse transform in each second axis. Also disclosed is a system for performing the above method.

Abstract

A method of making a carbon dioxide-based cementitious product includes: providing a calcium chloride solution and an ammonia source; and mixing the calcium chloride solution and the ammonia source with a bacteria solution (e.g., of Sporosarcina pasteurii) to obtain a cementitious product, wherein the cementitious product includes amorphous calcium carbonate. A cementitious product including an amorphous calcium carbonate (ACC) and a bacteria distributed thereon may be provided in the form of a slurry or a powder. A use of the cementitious product to treat a soil may include: forming the cementitious product from a mixture of calcium chloride and a bacteria solution; and adding the cementitious product to the soil to form a treated soil, wherein the cementitious product includes ACC. The treated soil includes calcite and the aggregate particles bonded together. The cementitious product may also be used to make building components.

The rope passes sequentially through the first set of pulleys, the second set of pulleys, and the third set of pulleys, with an end of the rope extending out through the third set of pulleys. The direction of the rope is altered by the second set of pulleys.

Abstract

A touchpad system includes: a circuit, a substrate, a first layer, and a laser-induced graphene (LIG) layer The circuit includes a machine learning module configured to recognize a handwriting input provided by the touch. The first layer is a thin film polymer. The thin film polymer is any one of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF). The LIG layer is disposed between the first layer and the substrate. The LIG layer and the first layer form a triboelectric nanogenerator (TENG). The circuit is powered solely by a voltage response generated by the TENG.

A signal for wireless transmission is modulated by converting a serial sequence of symbols in the time domain into parallel symbol streams, transforming the parallel symbol streams into the frequency domain, mapping the resulting frequency domain signals onto subcarriers, converting the mapped signals into the time domain and converting the parallel time-domain signals into a serial signal. The serial signal is subjected to chirping and is transmitted to a receiver after adding a cyclic prefix (CP). The receiver removes the CP from the signal and, after de-chirping the prefix-less signal, converts the signal into parallel signals. The parallel signals are converted into the frequency domain for channel estimation, equalisation, and subcarrier mapping of detected symbols. The mapped symbols are transformed into the time domain before converting them into a serial stream of symbols.

This disclosure relates to a computing module that is configured to detect vascular mild cognitive impairment (MCI) by generating an MCI assessment score. The score is determined by a trained machine learning model, which is configured to process inputs generated by the user as the user completes a plurality of games that are accessible through an interface module communicatively connected to the computing module. The machine learning model is trained based on correlations between clinical data of subjects and gameplay data acquired from the subjects when the subjects complete a series of predesigned games. In various embodiments, the plurality of games are developed to obtain behavioural and cognitive markers including executive function, processing speed, apathy and disinhibition.

A selected surface of the present disclosure is characterized by a two-tier nanostructure: first-tier nanostructures and second-tier nanostructures disposed on at least a cell wall of the first-tier nanostructures. A method of bandgap tuning of co-evaporated perovskite by a solution process is provided. The method may include providing a co-evaporated perovskite, and treating a surface of the co-evaporated perovskite with a halide-based solution to diffuse the halide-based solution into the co-evaporated perovskite thereby doping it with a halide dopant to form a doped co-evaporated perovskite, wherein the doped co-evaporated perovskite has a characteristic bandgap that is shifted towards a smaller wavelength as compared to the characteristic bandgap of the co-evaporated perovskite before the doping. A doped co-evaporated perovskite having a tuned bandgap, and a solar cell including the doped co-evaporated perovskite is also provided.

The hydrogel in the microparticles (140) is solidifiable by the crosslinking agent to form an extracellular matrix for culturing organoids from the organoid cells.
