This invention relates to a system for performing a data transfer function by a mobile device. The system performs in the following manner. The system receives a short message service message from an administrator computer via a wireless telephonic network. The contents of the short message service message are read and determined whether the contents include a command code for a data transfer function. If the contents include a command code, the system will attempt to establish a wireless connection to a second data network. Once the wireless connection is established, the system will perform the data transfer function.

The present invention describes a programmable pressure activated inflation trigger device (100) for a life vest (12). The trigger device (100,400) is enclosed in a housing (110,410).
