Abstract

In order to ensure that portions are visually appealing, i.e., centered, have uniform slice spacing in a longitudinal direction and do not differ too much in a transverse direction, and in particular do not rest on a sealing edge of a trough belt in its trough, the corresponding portion arrangement on a packaging element is, as is known, determined directly in a packaging machine from above by means of a camera and if a deviation from a target arrangement is too great, production parameters in upstream units of the packaging machine are adjusted, i.e., across a gap between a portioning belt and the packaging machine. According to the disclosure, the actual arrangement of the portion is determined from below the packaging element, in particular the trough, and through said the packaging element by means of radar radiation.

Abstract

To minimize the frequency of losses in the form of product tailpieces, which cannot be sliced because of gripper claws located therein, long or endless products are produced, whether outside or inside the cutting machine, by positioning product parts adjacently in lengthwise direction one behind another and joining mutually facing end faces of these product parts. The product parts may be joined outside the machine, resulting in long but finite products, or by positioning within the machine and on a feed belt a new product part in each case in succession at the rear end of the product currently being sliced and joining the new product part to the rear end of the rearmost product part of the previous product to form a virtually endless product.

Abstract

In order to prevent a slice from being separated from each log during the last cut in the case of multiple portions produced in parallel, that is to say there is no unproductive cut in the last cut, as is required, for example, in EP 2942165 B1, the basic idea is to already provide an unproductive cut for at least one log during the first cut for the simultaneously produced portions, wherein a distinction must be made in the following procedure whether or not separately controllable portioning belts are present per lane and whether the portion lengths should be the same or not despite different numbers of slices.

Abstract

In order to avoid having to remove grippers that are not required from the machine when changing the number of lanes by disconnecting the supply lines, in particular pneumatic lines (which requires a great deal of effort due to the hygiene regulations when reconnecting later) the gripper that is not required, at least its base part, ideally together with the gripper head fastened to the base part, is removed from the operating position and repositioned to a parking position without having to disconnect the supply lines. The same is also optionally possible with the contact pressing units of the PFOs, whose contact pressing drives are also connected to supply lines, usually pneumatic lines.

Abstract

In order to be able to achieve a control target (Z) selected by a user in the simplest possible way during operation of a production line (500), performance indicators (LKs) are calculated from performance parameters (LP) which are measurable or discernible or can be specified and can originate from several different machines (100, 200, 300) of the production line (500). By achieving or even optimizing these one or more performance indicators (LKs) stored in a control with control target (Z) within their target range, it is ensured that the overall regulation target (Z), i.e. for the entire production line (500), is also achieved.

Abstract

In order to prevent a rapidly rotating blade from flying away in the event of unintentional loosening, for which purpose the blade usually rotates in a protective blade housing, a catch pivot can-alternatively or additionally—be provided, which ends with its free end at such a small distance in front of an oppositely directed free end of a rotor and also extends in a direction of a blade axis of the blade 3 that a distance therebetween is less than a thickness of the blade. This prevents the blade from coming out radially through the distance between these two parts in the area of a central opening.

Abstract

In order to avoid complex electronic synchronization of various supply modules of an entire supply unit engaging on a caliber, the individual supply modules do not have separate drives, but rather a supply drive, usually a controllable electric motor, is mechanically operatively connected to several, preferably all existing, supply modules. As a result, moveable parts of the supply modules, which effect transport of the caliber in a supply direction, are driven accordingly.

Abstract

To ensure that, during slicing, a gripper can remain stationary when a log which it is holding has been completely sliced while other grippers move forward for the slicing of the other logs they are holding, a hydraulic cylinder unit is arranged between each gripper and a gripper carriage, which unit is either switched pressureless in a lane of the completely sliced log or is hydraulically connected to the other hydraulic cylinder units in order to allow the displacement of hydraulic medium from the hydraulic cylinder unit of the completely sliced log, which retracts during further slicing, into the other hydraulic cylinder units.

Abstract

In order to avoid a decrease of cycle frequency of a packaging machine within a packaging line caused by a previous interruption of a slicer's on-slice operation, e.g. during its loading, special residual buffers for additional buffering of portions compared to normal operation may be released by a controller shortly before the interruption. For example, non-buffer positions for portions on buffer bands may be released, or portion positions on non-buffer bands may be released.

Abstract

In order to be able to manufacture differently designed support frames, often of different lengths but also of different widths, for different slicer designs with lower bearing and logistics costs, they are assembled from—differently designable—lateral support modules on the one hand and transverse support modules of different lengths on the other, but the transverse support modules are only detachably connected to the lateral support modules, usually by bolting. These modules in turn can be composed of submodules, which in turn can be composed of individual elements, whereby connection to the entire modules can also be made by welding.

Abstract

In order to automatically correct the transverse position, rotational position and, if necessary, the folded position of articles, an actual position may be determined as far upstream as possible, preferably already on a portioning belt of a discharge conveyor unit, and depending on this, a change in position towards a target position may be carried out with a belt of the discharge conveyor unit, which preferably follows downstream. The aim is to make the discharge conveyor unit as short as possible and with as few conveyors as possible, in particular preferably with only three belts, of which a weighing belt or the portioning belt may be used as a detection belt, and the next belt may be used as a displacement belt, regardless of whether it is arranged in the second or third position.

Abstract

In order to be able to shingle articles individual slices or partial portions of slices shingled in a longitudinal direction in a transverse direction relative to the running direction of conveyor units on which these articles are transported, the two conveyor units, on each of which one of the two articles is fully supported, are not brought to overlap in order to achieve the transverse shingling, but one of the articles is transported on its conveyor unit with a lateral overhang to the other conveyor unit, and the other article placed there on the edge side with such a height difference that the two articles can finally overlap and be placed on top of each other. However, the two conveyor units only have to be guided closely next to each other for this purpose without overlapping themselves. This simplifies the design of the overlapping unit and reduces its overall height.

Abstract

A tray sealing machine comprises a gripper device including first and second tray grippers that operate together to take up trays provided by a feed unit and transport them to a sealing station that is downstream in a production direction. A speed of the first and second tray grippers in the production direction when respectively performing a closing motion from a respective initial position toward a respective closing position can be accelerated such that the speed of the first and second tray grippers in the production direction relative to a belt speed of the feed unit during a predetermined first time interval is slower than the belt speed, and during a subsequent predetermined second time interval until the respective closing position has been reached is greater than the belt speed, so that gripper fingers on the first and second tray grippers immerse into respective position windows located between the trays.

Abstract

A method for operating a sealing station of a packaging machine, wherein the method may include one or more of the following steps: filling a packing volume of a package with a gas to create a desired atmosphere to a preset gassing target pressure for a finished package, wherein the packaging volume may be defined by a lower and an upper packaging material; discharging a partial amount of the gas introduced into the packaging volume from the packaging volume into a collection volume while retaining the packaging volume generated by the preceding filling, which reduces the pressure within the packaging volume; and reducing the packaging volume by moving the upper packaging material to an end position that corresponds to a desired appearance such that the pressure inside the package increases again to near the gassing target pressure. A sealing station that performs this method is also described.
