Abstract

This method for producing a carbonate diester comprises: a step for obtaining a carbonate diester from a composition (A) containing a raw material carbonate ester derived from a polyester, a monohydric alcohol, and 1.0% by mass or less of at least one selected from dicarboxylic acids and dicarboxylic acid esters. According to said method, a carbonate diester serving as a raw material for a polyester can be efficiently produced from a raw material carbonate ester derived from a polyester, and it is possible to enable closed-loop polyester recycling.

Abstract

Device-descriptive data of a multimedia device are obtained by a remote control through a near-field communication (NFC) data exchange. The device-descriptive data of the multimedia device are received by an extended connectivity device through its wireless communication interface. A wireless link is established between the extended connectivity device and the multimedia device using connection parameters in the device-descriptive data. Multimedia data are transmitted to or received from the multimedia device over the wireless link established in accordance with the connection parameters received in the device-descriptive data.

Abstract

To present multimedia data, a communication path is established through a selectively separable electrical connector over which encoded multimedia data are conveyed to a multimedia presentation device. An order for a multimedia data file is transmitted to a multimedia source device through a wireless communication interface that is selectively separable from the multimedia presentation device at the electrical connector. The multimedia data file is received over a wireless communication channel through the wireless communication interface upon successful completion of a financial transaction for payment of the multimedia data file. A processor that is selectively separable from the multimedia presentation device at the electrical connector encodes the multimedia data of the received multimedia data file into a format compatible with presentation capabilities of the multimedia presentation device. The encoded multimedia data are conveyed to the multimedia presentation device via the communication path established through the electrical connector.

Abstract

Functionality of a multimedia presentation device is enhanced by establishing a communication path through an electrical connector that is selectively separable from the multimedia presentation device. Output streaming media are conveyed to the multimedia presentation device over the established communication path. A wireless communication channel is established over which input streaming media are received from a multimedia source device. Multimedia data of the input streaming media are stored in a memory that is selectively separable from the multimedia presentation device at the electrical connector. A processor, which is also selectively separable from the multimedia presentation device at the electrical connector, retrieves the multimedia data stored in the memory and the retrieved multimedia data are conveyed to the multimedia presentation device as the output streaming media on the communication path to the multimedia presentation device through the electrical connector.

Abstract

A stress buffer sheet 10 is constituted by arranging external conductive layers 16A and 16B on the front and rear main surfaces of a through electrode layer 13. Columnar internal electrodes 14 are formed using a porous oxide base material 30 formed by anodic oxidation of valve metal; the oxide base material 30 is selectively removed after the internal electrodes 14 have been formed, and a resin 12 is filled in a resultant void space. The resin 12 has a small Young's modulus and can be deformed together with the internal electrode 14. In a structure having a wiring board 20 and an electronic component 24 connected through the stress buffer sheet 10, when stress acts on the joint portion during mounting of the electronic component 24, the whole of the through electrode layer 13 is deformed so that the stress is absorbed or released.

Abstract

An electronic camera includes an imager, having an imaging surface capturing a scene, which repeatedly outputs a scene image. An extractor extracts a specific reference image coincident with a partial image outputted from the imager corresponding to a predetermined area allocated to the imaging surface, from among a plurality of reference images. An adjuster executes a process of adjusting an exposure amount by emphasizing the predetermined area in parallel with the extraction process. An identifier identifies a color of an object equivalent to the partial image, corresponding to extracting the specific reference image. A corrector executes a process of correcting a tonality of the scene image with reference to the identified result, in place of the extraction process. A searcher searches for a partial image coincident with the specific reference image from the scene image having the corrected tonality.

Abstract

A digital camera of the present invention comprises a control circuit executing an initialization processing of a recording medium mounted thereon and a series of photographing processings. The control circuit starts the initialization processing of the recording medium when a power of a camera body is turned on, and thereafter, determines presence/absence of an image recording operation regardless of whether or not the initialization processing has been completed. The control circuit starts the series of photographing processings when it is determined that the image recording operation has been performed, then, when either the exposure processing or one or more steps of signal processing is completed, suspends the series of photographing processings to determine whether or not the initialization processing of the recording medium has been completed, and resumes the series of photographing processings when it is determined that the initialization processing of the recording medium has been completed.

Abstract

An image-taking apparatus generates an output image from a photographed image obtained by photographing and displays this output image on a display screen of a display section. The image-taking apparatus includes a recognition processing section for recognizing a specific subject (facial region of a person, or a facial component such as eyes) included in the photographed image. Referring to results of this recognition, the image-taking apparatus evaluates the dimension of the specific subject in each photographed image. If the dimension evaluated is relatively large, a relatively small magnification ratio to be employed upon the generation of the output image from the photographed image is provided. If the dimension evaluated is relatively small, a relatively large magnification ratio to be employed upon the generation of the output image from the photographed image is provided. As a result, the dimension of the specific subject in the output image is kept substantially constant.

Abstract

A wireless media player and a related system and methodology are disclosed. One aspect of the wireless media player system pertains to a virtual connector system, apparatus, and method for the automatic establishment of wireless connectivity with other electronic devices. In one embodiment, the media player device employs the use of integrated Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to exchange communication settings, media capability, and other parameters with an external device that also has integrated RFID technology. The automatic exchange of settings and other information via a proximity-based RFID data exchange allows a media player to quickly establish a secure communication link with another device via a commonly supported wireless protocol such as Ultra Wideband (UWB) or Bluetooth. Another aspect of the media player system pertains to a method of using the captured media capability of the connecting device to customize certain menu options and software parameters in the media player.
