Abstract

The invention is related to an improved compact process for producing dissolving pulp in a prehydrolysis kraft cooking process. In order to avoid pitch problems with blocked withdrawal screens and to obtain a distinct ending of the prehydrolysis stage, as well as a thorough alkaline impregnation ahead of the kraft cook stage, alkali is charged to the mixture of prehydrolyzed material to such an extent that the residual alkali concentration after neutralization of the acidic hydrolysate is above 20 g/l EA as NaOH and the temperature of the resulting alkaline treatment liquor for the prehydrolyzed material is lowered by at least 10% in comparison to the temperature in the prehydrolysis stage. The alkali charge will avoid redeposition of hemicelluloses dissolved in the prehydrolyse stage and will abruptly swing the wood material mixture to alkaline conditions favourable for a alkali impregnation stage at reduced temperature ahead of the final kraft cooking stage, which impregnation stage will extract the major part of the hemicelluloses content of the cellulose material.

Abstract

The invention concerns a method, system and a withdrawal screen section for the impregnation of chips during the manufacture of chemical pulp. Chips are both steamed and impregnated in a low pressure impregnation vessel 3, using pressurised hot spent cooking liquor BL as the main part of the impregnation liquid, which hot spent cooking liquor produce most of the steam BLSτ necessary for steaming the chips. In order to improve the process in the impregnation vessel 3 are at least two independent first and second screen rows, SC1 and SC1 b respectively, installed. The first screen row withdraws acidified treatment liquor for disposal which otherwise would be a parasitic acidified waste fluid in the system, and the second screen row recirculates treatment fluid back to centre of treatment vessel in order to even out the pH profile over the cross section of the vessel.

Abstract

The invention concerns a system and a method for the regulation of a continuous vapour phase digester (50). The relevant process inflows (CH, ST, WL, DL) are regulated with a process regulator (PC) depending on current process outflows (LIQRET, CHOUT) in order to establish a gas phase (STP) above a level (LIQLEV) of cooking fluid in the digester and a level of chips (CHLEV) in the digester that lies above the level of fluid. The process regulator has a first set of sensors (40, 41, 43) in order to control a first set of regulators (10, 11, 12, 13) in the input with respect to a first set of target values, and that [sic, syntax] the system comprises a load controller that is independent of the process regulator, which load controller has a second set of sensors (42) in order to control a second set of regulators (20, 21, 22, 23) in the input with respect to a second set of threshold values. The load controller closes at least one of the relevant inflows when these threshold values are exceeded. Alternatively, the load controller can open an otherwise closed line in order to reduce the volume of fluid in the digester.

Abstract

The invention concerns a method and an arrangement for wash after completed digestion in a continuous digester (1) for the production of cellulose pulp. Digested softened chips that have not been defibrated are fed out from the bottom plane of the digester. The non-defibrated chips are fed out under the influence of a bottom scraper arranged at the bottom of the digester and subsequently through a bucket shaped outlet tap (10) at the bottom of the digester, and onwards to an outlet line (12) connected to the outlet tap. This takes place before the softened chips pass through a blow-valve (4) arranged in the outlet line, across which blow-valve a pressure drop of at least 0.5 bar and at most 3-5 bar has been established. What is characteristic for the invention is that the softened chips are exposed to an displacement wash after they have passed the outlet tap (10), and which displacement wash has been established in the flow of digested softened chips through the outlet line (12) before the softened chips are defibrated by the pressure drop across the blow-valve (4).

Abstract

The invention concerns an arrangement and a method for the steam pre-treatment of chips during the production of cellulose pulp. With the aim of avoiding the blow-through of gases in the steam pre-treatment vessel (1) and in this way preventing foul-smelling gases from being released into the atmosphere, the inlet of the vessel (1) comprises an inclined feeder device (52) in a feeder housing (54). In the event of the initiation of the risk for blow-through of steam, is the feeder housing sprayed with cooling liquid in order to increase condensation capacity of the chips being fed, and ultimately filling the feeder housing with liquid, establishing a liquid lock, and preferably at the same time as the feeder drive (M) is shut off. It is possible in this simple manner to avoid the emission of gases from the chip bin when interruptions in the process occur, whereby the release of odours into the surroundings can be minimised.

Abstract

The invention concerns a method for influencing the flow from a strainer construction in a continuous digester. In order to avoid clogging of the withdrawal compartment (10a) in the strainer construction, an additive (Ch) that counteracts precipitation processes is added directly to the withdrawal compartment while the cooking fluid is being withdrawn from the withdrawal compartment. The addition of chemicals can take place at the same time as the withdrawn cooking fluid is withdrawn from the digester and the strainer construction, or while the withdrawn cooking fluid is fully or partially recirculated back to the withdrawal compartment.

Abstract

In a continuous digester system the digester system is greatly simplified by using a single vertical atmospheric vessel, replacing the conventional chip bin, steaming vessel, chip chute, high pressure pumping or sluice feeders, impregnation vessels and top separator. Chips are simply fed to the top of the atmospheric vessel, and a chip level is established in the vessel. Treatment liquids are added to the vessel such that a total liquid volume (Z1+Z2) with a liquid level (LIQ LEV) is established under the chip level (CH LEV). Impregnation stage and subsequent cooking stages are implemented in the atmospheric vessel at successively increasing temperature and depths into the total liquid volume, thus preventing boiling in the stages and preferably reducing steam blow trough of the chip surface in the top of the vessel.

Abstract

The arrangement and method are for the steam pre-treatment of chips during the production of cellulose pulp to avoid the blow-through of gases in the steam pre-treatment vessel. This prevents foul-smelling gases from being released into the atmosphere. Spreader nozzles for the injection of cooling fluid are arranged in the gas phase of the steam pre-treatment vessel. In the event of the risk for blow-through of steam, cooling that is proportional to the risk is activated. It is possible to avoid the emission of gases from the chip bin when interruptions in the process occur, whereby the release of odors into the surroundings can be minimized.

Abstract

The method is for the impregnation of chips during the manufacture of chemical pulp. The chips are continuously fed without preceding steam treatment to the top of an impregnation vessel that maintains atmospheric pressure. Impregnation fluid (BL) is added to the impregnation vessel and establishes a fluid level (LIQ_LEV). The chips that have been added establish a chips level (CH_LEV) that lies at least 3-5 meters over the fluid level. The temperature at the top of the vessel essentially corresponds to ambient temperature. Impregnation fluid BL is fed in to the impregnation vessel in such an amount and at such a temperature that the temperature that is established at the fluid level (LIQ_LEV) is established within the interval 90-115° C., preferably within the interval 95-105° C.

Abstract

A method for impregnating chips in a continuous digestion system with an impregnation vessel and a digester. The digestion system has a heat exchanger arranged between a first return line and a black liquor line. The heat exchanger allows a transfer of heat between the two lines. A principal part of the fluid contents of the impregnation vessel is constituted by chips moisture, steam condensate, added white liquor, and the fluid withdrawn from the top separator at the first return line, whereby the impregnation fluid in the impregnation vessel does not contain any substantial amount of black liquor from the digester. An impregnation vessel is established that is hydraulically isolated, in which the flow of fluid and the establishment of its alkali content take place without any influence from the fluid flow in the digester process.
