Abstract
A folding knife incorporates an opening assist mechanism that functions to drive the blade from the closed to the open position and to retain the blade in the closed position. In one embodiment a spring arm located to one lateral side of the blade interacts at its forward end with a drive pin on a tang portion of the blade during a part of the blade's rotational path. The spring arm applies pressure to the tang of the blade through the drive pin when the blade is closed.

Abstract
A folding tool has a monolithic, one-piece handle with an implement rotationally mounted to the handle for rotational movement between a closed, stored position and an open, use position. The handle is adapted for installation of bearings on both sides of the implement following a defined method of installation so that the implement rides on bearings as it is rotated relative to the handle.

Abstract
A folding knife has mechanisms for facilitating dual operational modes for opening the blade. In a first modality, the knife is opened and closed manually. In a second modality, the knife is fully automatic. When the blade is in the closed position the user may use either mode, manual or automatic, without any switching mechanism. A lock securely locks the blade in the open position when either opening modality is being used. To open the blade manually, the user rotates the blade from the closed to the open position - the lock automatically locks the blade open when the blade is fully open.

Abstract
A folding knife has ambidextrously accessible trigger mechanism for releasing the blade from its open and locked position so that it may be moved to the closed position, and when the knife is fitted with an automatic opening mechanism. When the blade reaches the open position a novel locking mechanism securely locks the blade open. The trigger mechanism comprises a button on each side of the knife handle. The user may fire the automatic opening mechanism by depressing either the right or left hand trigger button, or both simultaneously. The release mechanism may be incorporated in an auto-assist or manual knife. The locking mechanisms described herein may be incorporated into a manual opening knife or a knife with an auto-assist opening mechanism and in all cases, the knife incorporates a locking mechanism that locks the blade open in a highly secure manner.

Abstract
A folding knife has dual operational modes. In a first modality, the knife is opened and closed manually. In a second modality, the knife is fully automatic. The user is able to use the knife in either mode, manual or automatic when the blade is in the closed position. In the automatic mode a bolster defines a trigger that causes the blade to move automatically from the closed to the open position. In the manual mode the user manipulates the blade manually to move it from the closed to the open position. A dry fire safety prevents firing of the knife with the trigger when the blade has been opened manually.

Abstract
A folding knife has dual operational mode. In a first modality, the knife is opened and closed manually. In a second modality, the knife is fully automatic. The user is able to switch between modalities with manipulation of a slider bar in the space between handle halves. The user is able to switch from the automatic mode into the manual mode, and vice versa, only when the blade is in the open position. A torsion spring around the pivot shaft connects the blade to the handle. The spring drives the blade open in the automatic operational mode and a switch mechanism is used to alternately engage and disengaged the spring from the blade.

Abstract
A folding knife incorporates an opening assist mechanism that functions to drive the blade from the closed to the open position. A torsion spring is retained axially on the blade axis pin and within a bushing that is stationary relative to the knife handle. One leg of the spring is fixed relative to the handle. The opposite leg of the spring extends through and rides in a partial annular groove in the bushing and acts on the blade as it is moved between the open and closed positions.

Abstract
In a folding knife in which a release button is used to lock the blade in the open and/or closed positions, and to release the blade from being locked, the release button has a shank portion that does not extend past the axial centerline through the button. The tang of the blade may therefore be made long enough that the lockup between the tang and the release button is more secure.

Abstract
A folding knife incorporates an opening assist mechanism that functions to drive the blade from the closed to the open position. The mechanism of the present invention relies upon a pair of torsion springs held axially on the blade axis pin and within a pair of bushings that are stationary relative to the knife handle. As the blade rotates from the closed position toward the open position, the legs of the springs rotate through and cooperate with structures formed on the bushings to transfer the spring pressure instantly to the blade to drive the blade open. As the blade is thus rotated from the closed position toward the open position, once a predetermined rotational point, or 'threshold' point in the rotational movement of the blade is passed, the mechanism of the present invention rotationally drives the blade into the fully open position.

Abstract
An out-the-front automatic knife incorporates dual locking and release mechanisms that define a three-point blade-handle interconnection between the blade and the handle when the blade is locked in the open position. A single trigger is operable to automatically open the knife, and to automatically close the knife. Separate firing and retraction springs may be provided with different spring strength to vary the speed and strength of the blade moving to the open position, and to the closed position. Blade guide systems cause the blade to travel longitudinally and linearly. The handle substantially encloses the blade and incorporates an access port to facilitate cleaning and maintenance of components housed in the handle interior.

Abstract
Many techniques including safely lockable mechanisms have been proposed to improve safety of knives; however, to close a knife according to the techniques, it requires the user to place their finger on the line of rotation of a body of the knife, rendering it unfavorable from the viewpoint of safety, and in addition, the knives of the techniques have insufficient strength and in turn are less safe. The object of the invention is to eliminate such drawbacks that are also common to key holders and holders for small-sized tools such as screwdrivers and saws. The folding tool has one side-plate (1a) and the other side-plate (1b). A part of the rear side of the other side-plate (1b) or an arm-like plate (2) attached as a separate body is used as an inwardly pressing member, and a projection (3) is provided at the head of the arm-like plate (2). The base end of the body (5) having at its end a rear recess (6) is foldably pivotally attached by means of a support shaft (4) to the base ends of both the one side-plate and the other side-plate. The projection (3) and the recess (6) of the body (5) are engaged with and locked to each other.
