Abstract

The present invention relates to a polymer composite, a product containing a polymer composite, a process for the dry production of a polymer composite, and a process for the production of a railway sleeper. The polymer composite comprises: sand; at least one filler; a thermosetting resin selected from at least one of dicyclopentadiene, neopentyl glycol, or a combination thereof; at least two additives, at least one of the additives being a phase-compatibilising additive and the other additive being a flexibilising additive; and a fibre selected from at least one of a carbon fibre, a metal fibre, a glass fibre, an aramid fibre, a basalt fibre, a graphite fibre, a polymer fibre or a combination thereof.
