Abstract

A method for processing regolith comprises the steps of filtering the regolith to separate oxides, including iron-rich oxides, silicon-rich oxides and non-magnetic oxides, from the regolith, chemically reducing the separated oxides with a reaction gas to obtain a purified stream of gases and solid particles, separating the purified stream of gases from the solid particles, and methanating the separated stream of gases to produce methane and water.

Abstract

A temporal and spatial remote sensing system comprises a temporal and spatial multi-sensor, a first processor in data communication with the temporal and spatial multi-sensor, and a second processor in data communication with the first processor. The multi-sensor includes a first sensor for collecting a first set of data through a first modality and a second sensor for collecting a second set of data through a second modality. The first modality may involve electrical impedance and the second modality may involve ultrasound. The first processor pre-processes the collected first and second sets of data in the time domain. The second processor processes the pre-processed first and second sets of data in combination to generate tomography data.

Abstract

A quantum measuring system comprises a satellite, a quantum tip, a quantum gravimeter, and a data processing system. The quantum gravimeter and the data processing system are onboard the satellite. The quantum tip comprises spaced apart high precision clocks that are physically supported by the satellite. The quantum tip and the quantum gravimeter are in data communication with the data processing system. The data processing system may be configured to process a combination of structural data collected from an alternative modality sensor and functional data corresponding to gravity-related measurements collected from the quantum tip and the quantum gravimeter.

Abstract

A controlled reactor comprises a reactor core thermally coupled to one or more heat pipes and an active cooling loop. A fluid may be circulated through the active cooling loop. A heat exchanger is thermally coupled to the active cooling loop and extracts heat from the fluid as the fluid is circulated through the active cooling loop. A heating system may be provided to deliver the heat extracted by the heat exchanger to a community. A thermoelectric generator may be provided to convert heat extracted by the heat pipes to electricity for delivery to the community.
