Abstract

A trap (10), is configured to attach to a waste outlet of a sanitaryware product, for example a sink, handbasin, bath or shower. The trap (10) comprises, a trap body (12), which includes an inlet port (16), an outlet port (20) and a first hollow sleeve (40) extending from the inlet port (16) into the trap body (12). A second hollow sleeve (52) is received inside the first hollow sleeve (40). A first end of the second hollow sleeve (52) is received inside the first hollow sleeve (40) and a second end of the second hollow sleeve (52) facilitates connection of the inlet port (16) to the waste outlet of the sanitaryware product to which the trap (10) is to be connected. The second hollow sleeve (52) is configured to slide relative the first hollow sleeve (40), thereby defining an adjustable neck, which moves relative to the inlet port (16) to adjust the height of the trap (10). The second hollow sleeve (52) houses an assembly of components, including a flexible shut-off valve (60) such that the second hollow sleeve (52) and the assembly of components, including the flexible shut-off valve (60) all move as a unit when the second hollow sleeve (52) is extended or retracted relative to the first hollow sleeve (40) and the trap body (12).

Abstract

A shower drain fitting (10) for insertion into a drain outlet of a shower tray comprises a hollow body (12) and a closure member (14). The closure member (14) comprises an internal face and an external face which facilitate opening and closing the drain fitting (10). The closure member (14) is movable between a seated position and an open position, wherein in the seated position the closure member (14) engages with an outlet end (40) of the body (12) such that back-flow through the body is prevented. In the open position contact between the closure member (14) and the outlet end of the body (40) is broken thereby providing a one-way through-flow path through the body (12). In normal operation the closure member (14) is biased to the seated position and is movable between the seated position and the open position in response to fluid flowing through the body (12) from the drain outlet side of the body (12) and is movable substantially automatically from an open position to a seated position in the absence of fluid flow from the drain outlet side of the body (12) and in response to pressure on the external face of the closure member opposite the drain outlet side. The internal face (22) of the closure member comprises a sloping surface.

Abstract

The present invention provides an in-line valve particularly suitable for draining facilities to avoid odour penetrating habitable spaces or backflush of drainage liquids. The in-line valve comprises a body, preferably made of two engageable parts, an inset and a duckbill valve. The insert is located within the valve body and surrounding the duckbill valve. The insert funnels liquid from the valve inlet to the valve outlet, so that puddling in the valve body is avoided and therefore no water is accumulated, which could lead to odours or microorganisms proliferation.

Abstract

A trap for a waste outlet for use in drainage facilities is described which provides a water seal. The trap comprises a one-way valve (23) at the trap inlet (14) and a pressure one-way valve (24) at the trap outlet (16) such that, in addition to prevent ingress of animals from the soil pipe to the buildings, prevents ingress of odours and the water seal being sucked away. The pressure valve (24) allows in the presence of a negative pressure differential across the outlet one-way pressure valve that air can pass through the pressure valve (24) to relieve the pressure differential but in the event of a positive pressure differential, air is prevented from passing through the oneway pressure valve (24).
