Abstract

A quick connect coupling having a housing with a throughbore to receive a tube. A verifier is mounted to the housing which nests in the housing when the coupling is fluidly connected. Otherwise, the verifier protrudes outwardly from the housing to provide an indication that the coupling is not fully connected.

Abstract

A fuel inlet assembly for an automotive vehicle having an elongated tubular and cylindrical housing open at each end and defining a port in between the ends of the housing. A flapper valve is associated with the fluid port and is movable between an open and a closed position. At least two latches are pivotally mounted to the housing adjacent the fluid port and movable between a latch position and a release position. The latches engage the flapper valve to prevent the flapper valve from moving to its open position. A flexible bump is attached to each latch so that the bump pivots with its associated latch and each bump protrudes radially inwardly from its associated latch. Each bump has a cam surface winch, when engaged by a fuel nozzle, pivots the bump and its associated latch to the release position. However, the latch is collapsible in a radially outward direction towards its associated latch when that latch is in its release position thus enabling a fuel nozzle to pass past the collapsed bumps and engage the flapper valve. As such, only a fuel nozzle with a predetermined size range will engage the bumps and pivot the latches to an open position and also allow the fuel nozzle to pass the bumps and extend through the fluid port.

Abstract

A capless fuel system having an elongated tubular and cylindrical housing open at each end and in which the housing defines a first and a second longitudinally spaced fluid ports. A first flapper valve is associated with the first fluid port and a second flapper valve is associated with the second fluid port. A pair of diametrically opposed latches pivotally mounted to the housing adjacent the second fluid port retain the second flapper valve in a closed position until a fuel nozzle of a predetermined size is inserted towards the second port. The fuel nozzle engages camless surfaces which pivot the latches away from the second flapper valve allowing the fuel filling nozzle to pass through the second port.

Abstract

For producing a cylindrical surface that has a surface structure of predetermined geometry suitable for application of material by thermal spraying, a geometrically predetermined groove structure of minimal depth and width is introduced into the surface by a tool embodied as a follow-on tool in that a groove cross-section is processed successively to a final size. In order for the surface to be producible in mass production with constant quality, the groove structure is worked in such that first a base groove is introduced with a groove bottom width that is smaller than the groove bottom width of the finished groove. Subsequently, at least one flank of the base groove is processed for producing an undercut groove profile by a non-cutting action or cutting action wherein the introduced groove structure is deformed in such a way that the groove openings are constricted by upsetting deformations of material.

Abstract

A hydrocarbon vapour filter system for capturing vapour released from a fuel tank. The system contains a vapour line in vapour-tight communication with the fuel tank, having a vapour capture segment for capturing fuel vapour, and in the preferred embodiment a purging stage releasing the fuel vapour. During engine operation captured fuel vapour can be released from the vapour capture line into air drawn into the engine intake manifold.

Abstract

A waterborne thermoset cured anticorrosion formulation includes a water dispersed or emulsified phosphonated or water dispersed or emulsified sulfonated epoxy resin that is cured with a phenoxy resin having a polyhydroxyl ether backbone and terminal alpha glycol moieties. Water is present as a predominant volatile in which the epoxy resin and phenoxy resin are present in a weight ratio of epoxy resin to phenoxy resin of between 0.1 and 3:1. An aqueous curative is provided to induce cure between the epoxy resin and phenoxy resin. A corrosion inhibiting metal salt is also present having a salt anion of phosphate, biphosphate or tetraborate and a metal cation with the proviso that the metal cation formulation as a whole is devoid of chromium, lead, cobalt, and cadmium. Ideal curatives include aqueous aminoplast crosslinkers, aqueous unblocked isocyanates, aqueous blocked isocyanates, and a mixture thereof. With the inclusion of electrically conductive aluminum or zinc particulate the formulation is rendered corrosion resistant as well as electrically conductive to make an inventive coating amenable to powder coating.

Abstract

The present invention provides a system for providing hydrogen gas to inject into the intake of an internal combustion engine. A hydrogen storage reservoir in communication with the gas output port stores a supply of hydrogen, and a hydrogen storage release valve retains the hydrogen in the storage reservoir and selectively releases hydrogen from the storage reservoir when the engine is started. In the preferred embodiment the system comprises an electrolysis cell that produces hydrogen when the engine is warm, and hydrogen is released from the storage reservoir when the system is active but the electrolysis cell is not producing hydrogen.

Abstract

In a system for providing electrolyte to an electrolysis cell for producing hydrogen gas to inject into the intake of an internal combustion engine, a water store is in communication with a water supply line, for replenishing the level of electrolyte solution used by the electrolysis cell. A valve which may be disposed at a level below the level of the water supply line and is opened, for example upon deactivation of the engine, to drain the water out of the water supply line and prevent freezing in sub-freezing temperatures.

Abstract

The present invention provides a system for providing electrolyte to an electrolysis cell for producing hydrogen gas to inject into the intake of an internal combustion engine. The system includes an electrolysis cell having an electrolyte input port, an electrolyte output port and at least one working gas output port. The electrolyte output port communicates with a storage reservoir. A coolant liquid conduit is in thermal communication with the electrolyte solution and in fluid communication with a portion of the engine coolant system in which the coolant liquid has been heated by the engine when the engine is running. To heat up the electrolyte solution and improve the efficiency of electrolysys, the heated liquid coolant is diverted from the engine coolant system and circulated through the heating system to transfer heat to the liquid containing the electrolyte. In freezing temperatures the heated liquid coolant may also be diverted from the engine coolant system and circulated through the distilled water store to thaw the water used to replenish the electrolyte solution.
