Abstract

A system is provided for indicating when an air treatment device filter should be cleaned. A parameter of the air treatment device is monitored which correlates with a flow rate through the air treatment device. A first pressure is measured upstream of the filter. Based on the 5 parameter, the measured first pressure and pressure-flow characteristics of the air treatment device fan and the flow path components downstream of the filter, an output is provided which indicates a need for filter cleaning. This depends on the pressure drop across the filter and the flow rate through the filter.

Abstract

:In the field of beverage making devices (10) comprising a brew chamber (23), a preheating procedure may be applied to a beverage making device (10) for the purpose of rinsing the brew chamber (23) with hot water prior to a beverage brewing process. However, a path (26) between a heater (24) of the beverage making device (10) and the brew chamber (23) is cold when the preheating procedure is initiated. Measures are taken to remove the cold water from the path (26) as mentioned, so that the rinsing procedure can be done more efficiently, wherein only hot water is used to heat up the brew chamber (23). As a result, the in-cup temperature of the first cup is not compromised, and the total volume of the water used in the rinsing procedure is kept as small as possible.

Abstract

In the field of beverage making devices (10) comprising a brew chamber (23), a rinsing procedure may be applied to a beverage making device (10) for the purpose of rinsing the brew chamber (23) with water prior to or after a beverage brewing process. Measures are taken to achieve that a discharge of rinsing water from the brew chamber (23) takes place at another position on the brew chamber (23) than the position of a beverage outlet (30) of the brew chamber (23), particularly at a position which is an upstream position on the brew chamber (23) as seen in a direction of water and brewed beverage through the beverage making device (10) associated with the beverage brewing process. This can be done on the basis of appropriate control of operation of the beverage making device (10) during the rinsing procedure.

Abstract

A wireless temperature monitor probe comprises a spike for insertion into an object for which a core temperature is to be monitored and a head at a proximal end of the spike. A sensor inductor coil is in the head and is used for wireless interrogation by an external detector unit to determine the core temperature. The spike axis is not in the plane of the inductor coil in the head, for example so that there is a bend between them. This makes it easier to insert the spike while maintaining a desired orientation of the head, in particular to enable correct communication with the remote detector unit. In addition, it enables the head to be positioned against the object so that the probe takes up a minimum amount of space.

Abstract

A steam cooking apparatus has a cooking chamber, a steam generator for generating steam to be provided to the cooking chamber and a heating system. A food support is for mounting in the cooking chamber. A flow redirecting arrangement is provided at the front of the cooking chamber for redirecting flow from the front of the cooking chamber away from the stream generator and towards the food support. This improves the uniformity of the cooking process, particular when the steam cooking apparatus is used in a non-steam mode, and uniform browning of food is desired.

Abstract

A kitchen appliance has a base, a tool holder for mounting on the base and a jar. A magnetic drive coupling is between the base and the tool holder. A sensor is used to sense whether or not the jar is mounted over the tool holder, and rotation of the rotary tool is enabled in dependence on the sensing by the sensor. The sensor comprises a component which is displaced by the mounting of the jar to the tool holder and a proximity sensor arrangement for detecting a proximity of the component. This kitchen appliance thus has remote proximity sensing of when a jar is coupled to the tool holder. The rotary tool can be stopped as soon as it is detected that the jar is disconnected from the tool holder.
