Abstract

A method of manufacturing a varnish transfer foil, comprising: (A) a first step of supplying a foil which provides a surface finish on which to apply a layer of transferable varnish, (B) a second step of applying one or several layers of a resin or resins to a face with the desired surface finish of the by-product obtained in the previous step, wherein at least one resin contains radiation-curable functional groups and a thermal polymerisation initiator, (C) a third step of partial radiation-curing of the foil resulting from the previous step, and (D) a fourth step of calendering or pressing the foil resulting from the previous step by applying pressure and temperature, to generate a given surface finish, while curing the resin using the thermal polymerisation initiator provided in the second step together with the resin.

Abstract

This invention refers to a manufacturing process for a high-performance resin-saturated decorative foil, designed for surface lining, both outdoors and indoors. The decorative foil can be used as a decorative lining for HPL-High-Pressure Laminate-panels and CPL-Continuous-Pressure Laminate-panels, as well as to be adhered to any flat or curved 2D surface.

Abstract

The present invention refers to a manufacturing process for producing a high-performance resin-saturated decorative sheet, designed for surface lining, both outdoors and indoors. The decorative sheet can be used for lining HPL — High-Pressure Lamínate — panels and CPL — Continuous-Pressure Lamínate — panels, as well as for bonding to any planar or curved 2D surface.
