Abstract
A gating circuit for generating a voltage gating signal for controlling on/off operation of a photon detector, said photon detector having a superconducting sensing element for detecting photons and one input/output configured to both input the voltage gating signal to the superconducting sensing element and output a readout signal from said superconducting sensing element, said gating circuit comprising a signal generator for generating a first periodic signal, said gating circuit being characterised in that it further comprises a gate shaping circuit configured to shape the first periodic signal to obtain a periodic voltage gating signal having during each period a transient pulse followed by a plateau.

Abstract
A superconducting electronic signal output circuit includes a signal source section configured to provide a voltage and/or current signal. The signal source section comprises a superconducting nanowire single photon detector, SNSPD, a switchable output section connected to the signal source section and having a first superconducting switch configured to selectably cause the signal to be output to an output of the superconducting electronic signal output circuit, and a switchable sink section connected to the signal source section and the switchable output section and having a second superconducting switch configured to selectably cause the signal to be directed to a reference potential.
