The invention relates to a packaging method and machine for closing a box with a lid (30) comprising a rectangular central panel (31) and four side flaps (33), the method comprising the steps of: - transferring the box and the lid (30) to a closing station where the lid is positioned horizontally, vertically in line with the box, the two transverse side flaps (33) of the lid being retained, during the transfer of the latter, in a partially downward folded position; - bringing the box and the lid together by sliding vertically such that the top edge of the box comes into contact with the central panel; - folding and pressing the four side flaps, for a predetermined time, against the upper portions of the side walls of the box so as to ensure the attachment of the lid to the box by gluing.

METHOD FOR REDUCING AN INITIAL HEIGHT OF A PACKAGE, SUCH AS A SLOTTED CONTAINER, ACCORDING TO ITS CONTENTS, AND DEVICE FOR CARRYING OUT SUCH A METHOD
The present invention relates to a method for reducing an initial height of a package accommodating at least one batch of objects. The method comprises the following successive phases: - a priority phase comprising a priority step of an operator determining a priority volume and three secondary volumes, the priority volume accommodating a priority batch of objects of a maximum height, a priority step of moving an arm having a feeler inside the package to a position in which the feeler comes into contact with the priority batch of objects in order to determine a priority height which is in accordance with the maximum height of the priority batch of objects, a priority step of deforming the flanks along two priority folding lines bordering the priority volume by means of a marking tool carried by the arm, and a priority step of separating the flanks bordering the priority volume by means of a cutting tool carried by the arm, - three secondary phases comprising a secondary step of moving the arm by the priority distance, a secondary step of deforming the flanks bordering the secondary volume along two secondary folding lines by means of the marking tool and a secondary step of separating the flanks bordering the secondary volume by means of the cutting tool.
