Abstract
A method and apparatus for automatic resonance detection is disclosed for a motor- driven mechanical system such as a voice coil motor (VCM) in which a resonance detector and driver are provided. The automatic resonance detector may be implemented on the same integrated circuit as the driver, and dynamically determines the natural resonant frequency of the VCM driven by the driver. The resonant frequency is determined by measuring the back electromotive force (BEMF) of the VCM, detecting the slope of the BEMF signal, and determining the resonant frequency from the slope of the BEMF signal.

Abstract
A locking/unlocking mechanism for a contactless gesture detection system of a device is described herein. The locking/unlocking mechanism can facilitate automatic locking, manual locking, and/or manual unlocking of the contactless gesture detection system. The contactless gesture detection system can implement the locking/unlocking mechanisms described herein to control a contactless gesture-based user interface state of the device. In various implementations, the controlling can include detecting gestures associated with a user in a contactless space associated with the device; detecting a defined gesture sequence over a defined time period from the detected gestures; and transitioning the device to a contactless gesture-based user interface locked state or a contactless gesture-based user interface unlocked state based on the defined gesture sequence.

Abstract
A digital input to a digital-to-analog converter (DAC) is divided into a most significant portion and a lesser significant portion. At least one tap voltage generator generates a plurality of voltages, preferably using a resistor string. A decoder decodes at least one subword that forms the lesser significant portion to generate a corresponding at least one control signal. A switching unit accesses voltages generated by the at least one tap voltage generator in response to the at least one control signal. A scaled current generator generates a respective weighted current from each accessed voltage. An output stage combines all the weighted currents with a voltage that is an analog representation of the most significant portion of the digital input to generate an analog approximation of the entire digital input.

Abstract
An integrator system may have a pair of sampling circuits each having a sampling capacitor to sample a respective component of a differential input signal, and an integrator having inputs coupled to outputs of the sampling circuits. The system may have a shorting switch coupled between input terminals of the sampling capacitors. The shorting switch may be engaged during an interstitial phase between sampling and output phases of the sampling circuits. By shorting input terminals of the sampling capacitors together, the design reduces current drawn by the system and, in some designs, severs relationships between current draw and information content sampled by the system. Configurations are disclosed for analog and digital input signals

A method for tracing edges of an image using hysteresis thresholding includes: (i) receiving an edge map of the image, (ii) scanning one row of the input edge map, (iii) assigning a label to each edge pixel in the row based at least in part on the presence or absence of a neighboring edge pixel, (iv) grouping contiguous labels, and (v) identifying groups of edge pixels.
